: Itchin for a shiftin
DirtyJerseyJohnny 04-03-2011, 01:01 PM So last night my buddy took me for a spin (aka gunning it down a straight road, no clutch shifting) in his brand new 2011 SI 4 door and I gotta say, it is friggin quick and fun for a stock 4 banger. Let me just state quickly I have no admiration for Hondas around me because every corner you turn in my town theres a dumb brat with a EK and a fart can. But I love any clean tuner, and his whip is nice, and I'm now depressed, because its a beautiful day and I would love to just fly down the pike throwing gears. Don't get me wrong I love me X, but its nice to sink into a seat once and a while.
I'm thinking about by the beginning of the summer and taking a small loan out of the bank and pickin up a car, I was thinking about another Ford SHO because its something different, my first car was a 95 MTX SHO with an ATX swap and a ton of goodies which is now in the junk yard (but it wasnt my fault!). Either going for a clean, tastful tuner, or financing a new car later. I'm 18 and live in the pocking burning state NJ, so insurance is going to blow.
Give ideas on a whip, maybe a 300zx tt? Another SHO? Brand new Fiesta? 85 Celica or Corolla? Oh and nothing AWD
And anyone in NJ that have some ways around insurance? Maybe delaware insurance?
Or should I run up to the corner store and play Powerball.
Xterra Mike 04-03-2011, 01:23 PM tell your buddy with the SI that if he doesn't start using the clutch he's gonna end up at the dealership cryin because they wont replace the tranny. It happens all the time. you think just cause you have a warranty they will replace abused parts, well think again. They wont.
DirtyJerseyJohnny 04-03-2011, 01:46 PM it was the first time hes ever done it and was scared as hell to do it, he only did it after 4. after he did it it ran fine. i must state he treats his cars better than his wife/himself.
plus even if he did, i could care less because its his car not my problem lol

DirtyJerseyJohnny 04-03-2011, 01:56 PM MMMMM, I was lookin at some of them. they put what, 170 to the wheel?
KChurch86 04-03-2011, 01:59 PM 175 hp @ 6,000RPM, 180lb ft. of torque at about 4,000 RPM. BUT...they weigh in at just 2,709 pounds.
DirtyJerseyJohnny 04-03-2011, 02:13 PM Mannnnn, thats nice. got any vids? I wish my new tires for my X just fell from the sky so I can make a down at the bank to finance one. I jus got back from a dealership up the street from me to TD a Focus SVT, the sales rep[ didn't like the fact I popped it as soon as I got on the road, but when I got it in 6th and it slipped out he did the whole "thats normal, you didn't get it in all the way. You can drive with that, poses no threat. Don't worry about it. We can fix that for ya" and I turned around and got the bird on my way home
KChurch86 04-03-2011, 02:22 PM No vids, not my car. I just like 'em a lot :D
DirtyJerseyJohnny 04-03-2011, 02:49 PM Oh damn lmao I thought it was yours, but I don't blame you!
Rons04X 04-03-2011, 03:14 PM Subaru WRX (non STI) or a GTI would make a fun DD or a weekend crusier
DirtyJerseyJohnny 04-03-2011, 03:26 PM I would love a WRX but my friend with a STI told me to stay away at my age because (like STI's) of the could-be problems and such. For example if you get a flat tire, gotta replace all tires and alignment. But I don't know, maybe I might look into them when the time comes around, because if I get a WRX I'd only do exhaust work and won't beat it hard. And if Ford does a financing sale over the summer I can get a fiesta 3 door 5 speed with sport wheels and stereo package for like $245 a month! And tht 40mpg is looking pretty good
gt601 04-03-2011, 04:59 PM How 'bout a Mazda3? 263 HP and 280ftlbs torque! I believe thats better than the RX8.

DirtyJerseyJohnny 04-03-2011, 05:25 PM if i can afford one dude!
ryandavenport 08-15-2011, 09:35 PM My sister just got a Mazda3. I promise you don't want one of those. Her's is just the regular Mazda3, but aside from the engine and suspension, I doubt that they are that much different. It may work for you, but it doesn't for me. I'm not a small guy, but I'm not huge either, and I feel like I have to pull that car out of my ass crack everytime I drive it. I personally like the Mini Coopers. I have never been in one, but they look really fun in The Italian Job lol.
Xterror04 08-15-2011, 09:46 PM A ford fiesta? Seriously?
xtacular 08-15-2011, 09:56 PM Dude it's a car called 'party'. How could you go wrong?
ryandavenport 08-15-2011, 10:01 PM A ford fiesta? Seriously?
Come on Luke, nothing is more badass than a 3 door hatchback named after a taco party.
rjr162 08-15-2011, 10:04 PM I vote Fiat 500 since they're here now (or if not quite yet damn soon). Abarth version will be out first quarter of 2012

J Everett 08-16-2011, 08:30 AM The Fiat 500 Abarth is gonna be expensive though. Possibly more than a Cooper S.
And to correct something I read earlier in the thread about the Sentra SE-R: It's 175hp at the crank, not at the wheels. Figure more like 120-130hp at the wheels, maybe a touch more. Still, they're plenty quick and a hell of a lot fun to drive.
NUKEhead 08-16-2011, 09:09 AM I have a Cooper S, it's niceee :)
Mini Cooper S, 181HP @ 5,500RPM, 177lb-ft @ 1600-5500RPM, just under 2800 lbs WITH the sunroof
forever famous 08-16-2011, 09:46 AM I had a 2002 spec v and you would be surprised by how it can put you in the seat. Not like my Z did but it was a fun dd
Broden21 08-16-2011, 10:29 AM Mini cooper S, 6spd manual. i love mine. im running around 240hp to the wheels. with just a Intake, exhaust, 15% pulley, and a chip. and at around 2500lbs turns out to be a fun and fast little car.
Badbet 08-16-2011, 12:05 PM Say what you will about Ken block but I love this thing (it's a fiesta):
DirtyJerseyJohnny 08-16-2011, 02:22 PM I spent most of my money this summer on fixing what I break on my X, my boat, poker nights, school, and tattoos. A second vehicle is way far from my sights lol

XSE256 08-16-2011, 09:13 PM 300zx all the way. If you get one thats in really good condition, it will smoke the 350z and give a 370z a run for its money.
