Hello. Last year I found a deal on a 2000 Xterra XE with just 17000 miles. It was owned by a apartment complex who just used it for maintenance. My question is that at first the X got around 17-19 mpg, now it has dropped to 15. No leaks or anthing. Checked air filter, and everything else I could think of, even switched gas brands. Appreciate any help

Clean your MAF sensor, change your fuel filter, do the DIY air intake upgrade. Love your X.

yeah, don't expect civic milage for these trucks, v8's get better milage than the 3.3 v6, but i still love my truck and i don't have any plans to get riud of it yet, also check the spark plugs and wires, also you could try sea foam to see if that helps out also.

Did you disconnect the battery for any reason at all. If you disconnect it long enough the ECU will loose it's cold start memory and it usually takes a while for it to relearn. Also, as posted above, change you air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, PCV valve, and clean the MAF sensor.

I was regularly getting 18 - 19 mpg on my '02 all the way up to 100k.
