Hello.. I hope someone might be able to help me out w/ my situation; I have an 06 Xterra I bought it brand new it now has 22k miles & is still under warranty. About 4 months ago I noticed a squeaking noise when I ride over bumps don’t know where it’s coming from but it’s pretty annoying anyway I asked the dealer to look at it & they told me squeaks & noises aren’t covered under warranty after 18k miles. I’m a little confused & upset by this answer. Does anyone have this same squeaking noise & has anyone tried to get it fixed & had the same response? if so how did you resolve this? I appreciate any feedback on this as I am extremely upset by this matter.

Welcome to the club. Karate chop that MF in the throat, and then claim that you are "Rick James Bitch!"

Look man, there is one thing that you need to know. And that one thing is that the answer to all of your problems can be solved by Karate chops to the throat. That, and ask for what he is saying in writing. I never trust word of mouth. Talk nicely with them and even kiss a little ass if it is indeed an 18K rule, and see if they can do it anyway because you are such a charming little bloke that they can't resist.

If they still won't do it, tell them that you want to see your lawyer.

Sorry dude, I am in a good mood and I am just talky talky talky, I mean typy typy typy. Take the good advice out of this and ignore the rest.(except the Rick James part) That's still good advice :)

Well, I think Xterras and squeaks go together unfortunately.

In fact my signature when I owned my '02 on another board was: If the X is a squeakin' Don't come a peakin'....LOL...sorry about your problem.

I can't imagine an Xterra without some sort of squeak or rattle. My '08 hasn't developed that problem yet. But I'm sure it will!

I recently bought a 2005 Xterra after studying Consumer Reports and looking at several different SUVs and light trucks. Consumer Reports said that the main problem with the '05 X are body squeaks. I thought I could live with some body squeaks as long as everything else was tight. Sure enough, after a week of owning the X there were squeaks that became so high pitched and annoying that I got angry and started looking.

Here is what I found: The plastic cover in the back of the X (the one where the road safety kit is), it's connected to the rear hatch by some metal clips. These clips will come loose when you close the rear hatch. When they are loose they rub, metal to metal, and create a high pitched squeak that could be caused by any bump or vibration. I removed the plastic cover and it totally solved the squeaking problem. In the mean time, I ordered some new clips from the Nissan Courtesy Parts web site (www.courtesyparts.com). When they get here I'll re-install the plastic cover on the rear hatch and hopefully that will solve the problem. If it doesn't I'll let you know.

I also had a hood squeak that I thought was coming from the fender or somewhere in the front, but thanks to these forums, I've been able to remedy the problem.

Call Nissan and take it to another dealer. Bumper to Bumper means bumper to bumper. I must have gotten lucky with my 01. No squeaks or rattles with 110K and i don't baby it.

I had a problem with a nissan dealer after i got mine. The 4 wheel drive didn't work a month after i bought it used with 60K and the dealer said i must have abused it. They wouldn't fix it so i took it to another dealer and they fixed it without a problem. Turned out to be the front driver side hub was burnt out. Wonder how that happened?
