Hello,
I have a 2007 xterra that I plan on mounting a "BLUE SEA 5026 ST BLADE FUSE BLOCK" in. Now after looking at some other posts about fuse boxes I have seen some people place an additional fuse in between the battery and the fuse box and some haven't. Anybody recommend this one way or the other? If so what size fuse would be needed? To give an idea of the power being drawn, there are going to be 4 hella 500's, 2 hella 75's, and 2 stock fog lights.
Thanks,
Matt

I think this thread will help you, I am currently workin on this setup for my first gen, while awaiting the arrival of my KC's and Xoskel light cage. As for whether or not you should put an additional fuse between the battery and fuse box, it's pretty much your call. It can't hurt(unless you do it wrong). However, my personal opinion is that it's not necessary.
Here is a post by Alpine Spirit from the thread I linked to that may help you decide.
NICE JOB!!
Fuse blocks are the way to go, puts all of the fuses in one place for all your aftermarket electronics and keeps the fuse closer to the battery which reduces the danger of fire an shorts ALOT!!!!
I have something similar but I added this... it sits between the block and the battery.
Flush Mount Block (http://www.boatersworld.com/product/196970974MSK.htm?bct=t13046503%3Bcielectrical-boat%3Bcipanels-wiring%3Bcifuses)

It allows you to disconnect the whole block at one time at the push of a button. And its a fuse you can reset if needed, just like a house breaker.

hey thanks, yeah I think that i will do without the extra fuse, although I do like the idea of having a fuse you can use to switch off power to the box.
i also got my lightbar from xoskel, im very happy with it, good quality.

The whole point of the extra fuse is to protect the line between the battery and the fuse box you're adding. Typical MECP recommendations are fuse within 18" of the battery, the closer the better. *SHOULD* the wire between your fuse box and battery either come out of the fuse box somehow, or rub and short to ground, that piece of wire will short out and get extremely hot and can catch fire.
Just a recommendation from knowing people who didn't fuse and did have the car go up (my cousin and his self-installed amp which shorted against the firewall and burned up a Taurus SHO)
