hey all - let me give you some background that may or may not have any bearing on my question -
a week ago the truck died on me in the middle of a drive (thankfully at low low speeds and NOT on a highway) - Had it towed to my mechanic (the car would start, but only run for about a minute before dying and it would struggle) turns out it was a recall issue (corroded fuel pump) which a dealership dealt with (and then tried to tell me the truck still wouldn't start cause i needed a new distibuter assembly (the ONLY term i was given as 'internal failure)) not believing them, i had it towed BACK to my mechanic where he found i had a dead battery (it was the original, it was obviously going to go soon!) - battery was replaced, and it ran just fine.
two days later i had it on the highway and suddenly the SES light came on (i hadn't filled up with gas for a week (three tows cuts down on fuel usage, so i knew it wasn't the usual 'gas cap on crooked' trick) ) in addition, three times yesterday (the day the SES light came on) my O/D light blinks maybe a doen times then shuts off only when i start the car up after sitting for a while. (longer than, say, ten minutes (I'm guessing)) -
also, FYI - the truck is sitting at 103k miles so it's getting close to spark plug time - could that go along with the SES?
thoughts? ideas?
thanks in advance
