pretty much i was just wondering if they are a good tire. Also what are they comparable to, a/t or m/t or something else. I am looking at the ones with the red lettering on sidewalls. How stupid it sounds i think cosmetically they will look good with my red SE xversa and nissan badges i am painting. Any reviews on the tires?

They look good to me. They are comparable in tread style and side wall design to b.f. Goodrich all terrain t/a's. As for there performance/reliability I couldn't tell you. Go to tirerack.com and read there reviews. People seem to like them but they are still a relatively new tire so the long term reliability or wear has yet to be determined.

General Grabbers came with the 1st Gen's. They are notoriously bad; many of us call them General Crappers. The second version of the Grabber is supposed to be better but I have no experience with them. Good luck!

There's a reason we call them 'General Crappers'. They're too soft, wear out too soon and don't really do much for traction like an actual A/T or season specific tire. Pony up and get BFG A/T's and you'll wonder why you ever looked at anything else.

And I drive a 4x2. According to your avy, you wanna piss on me?

We're an Xterra site, not a 4WD Xterra site.

What version of the grabber are you talking about? Im assuming its the one used in desert racing since you said red lettering on the sidewall. If thats the case, those didn't come on 1st or 1.5 gen Xs. They are a new tire. They have done well in the racing circuit though

I was just curious, because the long trails blew in any snow lol. Had a second send set of rims and snow tires less than 1 month of the first winter we had the X

The ones with the red letters wear fast, as they are a competition rubber compound...not at all practical for a DD.

The General Grabbers were standard on the X's in 2000-2001 for example (255/65/16) and sucked big hairy moose cock. Mine lasted almost 6k miles before they were shredded to oblivion, and that's with my WIFE using the X as her DD, and me borrowing it once in a while.

I replaced the General Crappers with Michelin Cross-Terrains (275/70/16), again, for my wife.

The Generals were SO bad, that my wife, who never thinks about tires, commented on how it felt like a new truck with the new tires....all of a sudden, it handled so much better!

The General Grabber AT2's are a completely different tire, with a better sidewall and tread copied from the BFG AT ko.

They perform more like a BFG AT ko now, only without the long tread wear the ko gives...and with slightly worse off road performance, as they are slightly less aggressive.

The sidewalls seem to be just as tough though now, which is a giant leap forward.

So, if the cost is close, the AT ko is a better tire, but, if the cost difference is enough, I can see getting the AT2.

:wink-big:

From what ive read they work good on the highway and desert terrain and not so hot in the mud and muck i like... Take it with a grain of salt .... And yes i would like to piss on a 4x2 if he wont man up and say it lol 4x4s shall rule the world.
