i have already done my first oil change on my 06 xterra at 1200 miles (break in period ends)
I plan on using the dino (mobil 5w 30) for the next oil change at 4200 miles but i have been considering switching to at least a synthetic blend...
I have always ran fully synthetic mobil 1 in all my cars until the X
I was thinking of trying some castrol syntec 5w 30 blend, does anyone run sythetic or a blend in their 05 or 06?

Maybe you should try half synthetic, half dino... :D

key difference
dino oil = refined
synthetic = designed

5w-30? I forgot, are you in the states? You might could go a little thicker this spring....I used 15-50 in a chevy with main bearing knock, Oh anyways I ran my last mob 1 change in xterra between 4 and 5K don't think it will die of oil failure any time soon.........I"m tempted to run the filter longer, but being an S/C and considering the size of the filter, and how heavy it gets, I change it too..........

mobil did a test where they took a new chevy 350 crate moter droped it in a truck and used it as a commuter test car. they ran the truck, changed the filter every 15000mi added 1qt mobil 1 10w 30. and tore the moter down at 75000mi and showed no visible ware on bearings or cylinder walls.

My dad swears buy Schaffers oil here in Minnesota. Its been run against every other oil including other synthetics and always comes out way on top. I plan to start using it my first oil change which is coming up soon. Hopefully get a little more gas mileage out of it.

off topic, but kinda on, my buddy just switched to amsoil full syn transmission fluid in his infiniti I30, which has a 3.0l VQ in it, so just like you 05+ guys, just smaller displacement which is irrelevant since im talkin transmission fluid, he has been trippin on the difference it made for like a week now, almost seemless shifting, i can vouch as ive driven his before and after

amsoil is good for gears but ive had a few friends burn it up fairly fast in engines
ill stick with redline
