So, I've had these 5000K HIDs since I bought the X last February. The ballasts were actually off of my Monte Carlo, and I just got new bulbs. So, really the ballasts were about 4 years old. The passenger side one finally gave out last week. A bit of flickering, a pink sustained beam, then nada. So, I'm officially in the market for a new set, since I hate the stock beams. What do you guys run? How reliable are they? I'm looking forward to your advice!

I got my $36 xentec hid kit off eBay! Very happy. I'm running the 10k little blue but that's what I wanted.
i got the same exact kit as austin, although mine was $33 :), and i got the 5000K....10000K would just be way too blue
it was kind of annoying that they didn't "plug 'n play" like advertisement said, had to put together the adapter that goes between the stock harness and the ballast...no big deal, just false advertisement
mine are very bright, and need to be aimed down slightly...they installed relatively easily, and they warm up in about 5 seconds to full intensity...i can see the drivers side bulb flicker slightly, so i doubt they will last that long, but at $33 a set, i can afford to replace them twice a year :)

Is there any concern about the bulbs melting the housing? I know that HID's put off alot or more heat that the standard bulb. Will the OEM housing/lens be able to withstand the differance?

I ran my setup for well over a year, haven't had any problems.
$33 is wicked cheap, especially if it comes with a warranty, I'll have to check it out. Thanks guys!
