I believe it is either blue or white but as to exactly where, I am not sure. I think it is close to the firewall

The firewall is the wall between the cab and the engine compartment.

The crankshaft position sensor is on the bellhousing behind the drivers side head.

And the bellhousing is between the engine and the transmission.

I just realized that those links sent you to nothing but the forum. Sorry Denis!

I had 2 specific threads that were exactly what you needed.

I have searched through this forum and a lot of you have replaced this sensor, my question is what is the best way to get at the sensor to remove and replace it? I can nsee where it is from underneath the truck, but it seems harder to get at than the number 6 spark plug.

Any help would be appreciated,

Matt

why are you doing this?

I still have the intermittant misfire problem, and since the sensor is the original to the truck , I figured what could it hurt to replace it since I already bought a new sensor.

i cant see any possible reason to change that sensor, also its not plug and play friendly there is a good chance you will be towing it to a dealer to finish .

So, can anyone help with the best way to replace this sensor? At this point I have nothing to lose by putting in the new one. Can anyone help on this?

Well as an update, I was not sure where to post this reply, either in the first thread I started concerning my code 0300 multiple misfire or continue in this one. I will leave that up to the moderator to leave them or combine them. I did manage to get to the crank pos sensorand replace it, but found it was unplugged the whole time. Now whether or not someone did this by mistake or on purpose I don't know. When I plugged it in and got the truck running again, it ran worse than before and immediately threw codes for the knock sensor and the crank sensor, but no more 0300 misfire. So after some investigating the harness, it seemed that the two sensors are connnected together, through some ground shielding. So I ordered a Brand new harness from a Nissan dealer, and will be installing it this weekend, hopefully this will cure the problem. I will post later next week.
