My 2000 Xterra have alignment problems, is pulling to the left and the alignment service canīt do much to correct it. Apparently the driver side is lower than the passengers side.By reading older posts now I know that if the torsion bars are unevenly adjusted causes the difference in height, but can this cause severe alignment problems?

Well i am just learning this stuff so i might not be 100% correct on this but ya, if your torsion bars are off one side will be higher then the other. When one side is higher then the other chances are you will be pulling more to one side. You can check this by measuring the space between your tire and the body. Just make sure that your tires are inflated to the same psi.

Yes it can effect the alignment, crank the T-bars to adjust them evenly and have it aligned. The torsion bars change ride height by raising or lowering the lower control arms. This in turn changes the camber of the front wheels.
The top (badly drawn) illustration shows the front tires stock, while the bottom shows what happens to the wheels when the torsion bars are cranked up.

Notice that the tires are no longer fully in contact with the pavement. It sounds like in your case one t-bar may be cranked up farther than the other and the alignment shop may not be able to properly align it as a result. My question would be why they did not just even up the t-bars and complete the alignment?

you're right when you say chances are . I think the question should be...is there a way to "restore the original bars settings" and then go from there?

because they do not know a s***, they just crank the bars after installing new shockers. as a rookie in these matters I just let them do it...good drawing by the way

ya its really easy heres the thread http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2600&highlight=index it doesnt even take long. my advice to you, once you get under there try to make sence of it all. when you understand how it works your not just turning screws and hoping for the best. look at it as a good learning oppertunity

as soon as I pull down the higher side, by cranking out the torsion bar, the alignment got better. then the alignment shop completed the job.
