My cargo door doesn't stay up, it keeps falling down on full weight, the lifts are shot on them, times running out (fishing season) and I don't want to sleep on it anymore, anybody know the cheapest way to fix it? Should I just go to home depot and get new hardware for it?

im sure you can find them on ebay. I doubt home depot will have the part. Maybe something similar? but ebay or courtesyparts.com

Thanks man, would a mechanic be able to get them cheaper? Because I can ask my mechanic to replace them or just order them for me.

i dont know. I wouldnt think so unless he buys bulk with another order. price them out yourself and then ask him what he can get for them.

You can get them at AutoZone, Advanced Auto, OReilly, Napa, etc.

A lot of folks get them from the McMaster-Carr website (http://www.mcmaster.com/#9416k147/=b03ze6).

Here is a great "how-to" on it. (It's a 5 min fix.)

You guys are just the best. Yeah I opened the door the other day to help my buddy move, and the door literally slammed on my a$$ and hurt pretty bad, these lifts are completely shot.

i'd go with the 175 pound mcmaster carr lifts. they give you several more inches of lift height and break in nicely (so you don't have to kill yourself to pull the hatch down)

but some guys say the 150# is good too . . .

175lbs McMaster is what I got when I got the Gobi rack and ladder. Much better than stock.

x2 on the McMaster struts. I got the 150lbs struts as I don't have the Gobi ladder, and gained about 1.5-2" of extra height from my hatch.

& being my wife's shorter than me, I didn't get the 175lb struts cause it would've been another couple inches higher, & they make it a little bit more difficult to close.

^ so, the wifey can't handle a couple more inches? :D

i got the 175 without a gobi and love them

she's just able to grab the handle of the hatch when it's up all the way. Any more couple inches & she'd have to jump to reach it. & being preggo right now...that's def. a no-no.
