: Need Help/Mod Day!!!!
jtyates 02-09-2011, 08:05 PM I just got my tax return in the mail and I'm about to spend a good bit on mods.
I want to get AC's UCAs, AAL, new front shocks, TRAs, and T bars...haha, i can see a lot of you turning and running the other way in horror at the work load. but seriously, i'll drive to you (within reason, i did my time in cali...no thanks). oh, and i'll bring beer, or jack, or whatever will entice you to help me. haha
Just PLEASE HELP!!!!!
RacerXXL 02-09-2011, 08:08 PM What kind of time frame? I know we have not done one in a while and I have some stuff I'm wanting to do, T-bars and probably AAL 3 pack, so I'm up for a mod day.
jtyates 02-09-2011, 08:09 PM I think I could manage the T bars and TRAs, I just wanna finish up my SL. but as far as setting a date, i'm open to anything.
jtyates 02-09-2011, 08:41 PM oh, one question that i have is can i use the stock t bars to get the full 3" of lift in front, or should i buy new t bars?
RacerXXL 02-09-2011, 08:45 PM You can use the stock T-bars....yes ......should you? Got me. :pfeilimkopf-big: Some one who knows better will hopefully come along.

Lucky13 02-09-2011, 09:51 PM upgrading t-bars is like upgrading springs..
the new ones will have 30% more recoil...
if someone here in central FL is willing to supply the place im willing to supply the labor/tools..
and will you be divorced soon.. idk.. was any of that $1400 on dinner and flowers?? valentines day IS next week btw... feb 14th
jtyates 02-09-2011, 10:02 PM roger that, and don't worry her valentines gift is in the mail
Drake 02-10-2011, 06:17 AM Upgraded T-bars are not required for the 3" lift. You are not adding weight to the vehicle but simply indexing the position of the bars which lifts the front. It is only suggested/recommended if you are adding a winch bumper to the front of your X and the 30% increase in stiffness is offset by the added weight.
For the record though, I've been running a winch bumper on mine with factory t-bars and there is no sagging but the front is a bit more spongy when stopping and on takeoffs. Have not noticed any change in ride quality and there was no change in ride height. I will probably upgrade mine once I add a winch to it.
As for the mod day, if somebody can supply the location, I'm all for it. There's always something I can do to mine. At some point I need to repack my front-bearings again and there's some lighting I wouldn't mind working on.
jtyates 02-10-2011, 08:42 AM Thanks for the info Drake! It sounds like we just need somebody to find us a central location!
Drake 02-10-2011, 08:46 AM Get me a location and a date that hopefully I'm not out of town working and we can do this. We can team up and get your stuff installed and then everybody can turn to working on the next big projects. We could do your uca's, tra's, and shocks in about 2 to 3 hours no problem. The skids would take maybe an hour. Not sure about the AAL but it wouldn't be more than a couple of hours at most and a couple could hit that while a few take care of the front.
We will hit your X like a full-on pit crew. :D
jtyates 02-10-2011, 08:51 AM Haha, that sounds awesome. I won't worry about the skids that day. I think I'll just leave them off until time to hit a trail somewhere and the shocks i can knock out in the driveway. so i would just need to get the uca's, tra's, and aal on. and so far i've had two of you guys from alabama offer to help, so it sounds like i'll be heading that way to get this stuff done. maybe if we narrow it down to one state, we could find some common ground somewhere.
Drake 02-10-2011, 08:55 AM I'm in Huntsville which isn't too far away from you but I live in an apartment so that is a no go for me. I could check with my local club and see if any of the guys between here and Scottsboro want to play host. I know one guy that would but parking would be an issue. Which sucks because he has a full-on fab shop in his basement/garage complete with Tig and Mig welders, Lathe, Machine press and plasma cutter. It's a mod heaven in there. :)
jtyates 02-10-2011, 08:56 AM Now THAT's the guy we need for the mod day!
Drake 02-10-2011, 08:59 AM I'll talk to him and see. If we bring a rig down one or two at a time it would work while the rest park on the street. His driveway is super steep and he owns a BMW, two jeeps and a Ford F-250 but he can still squeeze a couple more outside his garage. He currently has a porsche and a buggy project in his garage. He is in school and working part time so I will need to make sure we don't interfere with that. He was cool with us doing a mod day last fall but the timing didn't pan out on our end.
jtyates 02-10-2011, 09:01 AM well my off days are from Sat night through Mon night, so anytime in there would be awesome
jtyates 02-11-2011, 06:13 PM Got my 33's!!!!!
jtyates 02-15-2011, 07:29 PM Ok, so all of my parts should be in by Thurs. And my ADD won't let me keep these things lying around for too long, so we need to set a date to mod our trucks before I try and do it myself and render my truck out of service. so again just need help with UCA's, AAL's, and TRA's.
RacerXXL 02-15-2011, 07:36 PM I'm unavailable until at least the second week in March. :(
Roschili 02-15-2011, 07:39 PM Drive up to Tennessee and I'll put you guys in a warehouse thats 40x75 and filled with basic hand tools, a welder, and an air comopressor....
jtyates 02-15-2011, 07:53 PM That's fine. I doubted that anyone would be free this weekend, even though I am...(the wife has a family thing!) But if anyone will be free around Chattanooga, that would be perfect!
Roschili 02-15-2011, 07:59 PM Guess I should have clarified.... Said facilities are about 40 minutes west of Knoxville on I-40. I'm there just about every weekend working on various projects if there are people in this area that need a place to work or extra hands.
jtyates 02-15-2011, 08:05 PM Hey Roshcili, sorry, I didn't see your post. I would love to come up there as long as UPS doesn't lose any of my stuff I'll be there if the offer still stands.
jtyates 02-16-2011, 10:22 AM ok, so i just got informed today that i'll be in cali the week of the 28th, so i'm out until after then
