Ok, I'm going to apologize ahead of time because I'm about to kick a dead horse a few more times but my forum searches aren't giving me the exact answer I'm looking for.

I'm going to be buying new tires soon but I'm waiting to get my 2" BL on first. I've shopped around and found that I can get 4 rims (Soft 8's or similar) and 4 BFG AT KO's for the same price as I can get 4 BFG's for my 17" rims I have now. So yeah, you guessed it... it's a backspacing question.

I want to go with a 15 x 8 rim and 33 x 12.50 tire. With my PML and BL on, will I get a little more leeway on the 5" backspacing normally required with the X's? I'd like to go down to at least a 4.5" if not 4" backspacing. If I do this, am I still looking at trimming metal or will it just be plastic trimming?

I also remember back a few months where Ebeauchea had trouble with a 4.75" rim (Cragar Streetlock D) rubbing his brake caliper. Is this another issue I have to consider as well?

And for the hell of it... a 12.5" wide tire will fit an 8" rim won't it?

id say 4.5" but thats just a guess, i dunno with the tire size you are getting, ive got 31's on a 15x8 with 3.5" BS

I say stick with stock backspacing 5.5"

Damn! I was afraid that was the response I would get. But I guess with the 15x8 rim and the 12.5 tire it will still give me a touch wider stance even with the 5.5 bs.

Now to get some decent weather and 2 buddies to help me do the BL! I'm almost to the point of just parking it for 2 days and doing the BL myself. I'm ready to get this thing on so I can get new rubber.

Ok guys, I'm going to pick up a stick and keep beating that horse. I too need new rubber and I've read most of the tire threads here. Running stock 265/75 now on an 06 X, would like to go to 285/75, but can't afford a lift right now. Has anyone done this with the stock set up? If so, how much trimming is involved? I'm willing to do some mod to make this work and will likely get a lift this summer.

Thanks, Mark

Anything that is 33" or less will be good for the second gen. X as far as I know.

This is true from what I've read and been told. A 2nd gen should have no problems with anything 33" or less.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a shot and let the forum know.
