I'm currently playing my 4th semester of golf at a juco in Trinidad Colorado.... I was just wondering if we had any sticks on here besides myself?

Love golf! Been playing since I could walk. Only problem living where I live is my season is only 7-8 months long. But when the courses are open I play a couple times a week.

I played golf for one semester in college, it seems that if you're pre-med, golf is the ONLY physical education elective that fits into the schedule.

I then played 18 holes with my kids when we were on vacation on CO a few years back...as they wanted me to teach them to play. (They're in their 20's)

I was still amazing....so I figured I don't have to keep doing it once mastered, its boring after that....

Can you really be a master at anything there is always room for Improvement lol atleast IMO thats just me! I still play one way or another everyday we made it to nationals last year and I hit a slump the week before so there's that motivation to get better ha!

I love playing golf but haven't played in a while. Green fees and my addiction to new clubs was interfering with my mod budget. :D

I'm a TaylorMade man myself. I've played Pings and Callaways but I swear going to TM clubs and Rossa putters took 5 strokes off my average. Just an all around better feel for me. Keyword being ME.

What's everyone else swinging?

You guys are all out of my league. I used to play at least once a week and got my game into the high 80's. Now I'm lucky if I get out once a month when the weather allows and if I break 100. It has become frustrating so I don't enjoy it as much. Every spring I plan on getting back into it but then some bs comes up. One of these days. I swing TM woods, Ping irons, Cleveland wedges and an old Ping B30 putter.
...and I always walk when its allowed.

I'm not any good either. Sounds like you and I had the same progress. When I was playing regularly, I was getting into the low 80's and now I'm back up in the high 90's. I don't get frustrated though because it is not how I make my living, I enjoy the exercise and scenery (on most courses anyways) and I judge my game on that "one shot". That one shot I get to go home and talk about. I don't even mention my score but I'm quick to tell them about the tee shot on #3 or my approach shot on #12 or my CTP iron on a par 3. That is how I avoid getting rattled. I've actually found that by having that mindset it helps tremendously on keeping my scores from getting TOO out of hand. I just don't play often enough to get my game back down to reasonable scores.

For the past couple of years I’ve been struggling on the tee. I’ve have always hit a fade so have always been short and made it up with a decent short game. When I was playing well I could almost always get down in two from up to 150 yards out, so could play to there from the tee. Even if I had to hit an iron on a dogleg left I could, at the very least, play for bogey. My fade has turned into a slice and we all know that you need to play to keep a short game. It has been taking me at least three to chip onto a straight par 4 and then 2 or 3 to get down. When I was starting out that was cool but now I find it difficult to leave the last hole or even the last shot behind. By the turn I just start drinking and then it’s over…
Maybe this year I’ll try and get back…

I love playing golf too; I haven't played in over a year tho. I play Disc Golf now.

I have McGregor irons & Callaway driver & woods

I have Nike driver, 3 wood and rescue (21*) and Nike pro combo irons, cleveland wedges and Scotty Cameron putter. I play enough once my season starts that my handicap will be high single digit. Not extremely long ( I'm only 5' 10" ) but pretty straight off the tee.

I play just as good with rental clubs, it just doesn't make that much difference to me....a few swings, and I'm used to the new ones.

I’m out there looking in the woods for my ball off the first tee and then have to read this! You drive me crazy TJ…
:aufkopfhauen-big:
I’m never going to play with you ‘cause when you start beating the crap out of me with rental clubs I’ll have to use every ounce of restraint I can muster to prevent myself from beating you senseless with your rented 7 iron and leaving you in a fairway bunker before we make the turn!

LOL

I'd let you win...I'm nice that way.

Maybe do a few hundred yard drive to the green, and let it roll to the cup...but then pretend I can't putt 'til you catch up.

Play the ball up off your left big toe it causes the the club head to square and gives you a draw biased swing gave that to my pops who played a 90 yard slice hits it dead straight now but still cant break 85 lol

Oh I’ve tried that and it will work for a round or two if I don’t top the ball. I start reaching, get off plane, and it’s gone. I just need to slow down, start off by not taking the club so far back, stay on plane and it will hopefully come back. Unlike TJ it really is a matter of use it or lose it with me; I need to play.

Yea I know where your going with that is the problem when you play it up like that you gotta feel like our smothering the ball with your torso which will stop the top and keep you on plane

To me its just like tennis...swing the damn thing at the ball so it hits it squarely, or at a bit of an angle to make it curve around stuff, or land with a back spin, etc.

When I practiced, I found that hooking and slicing ON PURPOSE was a great way to get a feel for what did what.

After you do that a few times, you can purposely try for an arc that goes out one way, and slices or hooks back in where you want it to...so its rolling the direction you need it to when it lands, etc.

So, if you tend to slice, either PLAY IT AS A SLICE, or, try to HOOK it on purpose...and come in at it the other way.

Seriously, go to a range, get a bunch of buckets, and spend the day HOOKING the ball, on purpose, trying to get it to curve back to a target off the hook....by the end of that, you will not be slicing anymore.
