Me and some budz from NORA are doing a Winter Run at RC.

Mostly blues probably...if we get a bunch of greenies or blacks, we'll split along the colors to make it fun.

Some depends on the weather conditions....if its icy, greens turn blue fast.

Some depends on the group, if there's blue meanies who want to try a black or two, or greenies who want to have a blue phase, etc....we can do aqua's and purples, etc.

aw man. i really wanna go but the reptile show down in Hamburg is that day. need some supplies. maybe ill have a friend pick me up some stuff so i can wheel instead. agh decisions decisions!!!

haha you kno it!! theres a lot of creepy people there sometimes but you cant get getter prices anywhere. there's always the March show haha. cant guarantee how long the snows gonna stay up at Rausch tho! i gotta make up my mind already. the Gpax run seems too far away. Must.Wheel.Again.Soon!!!!!

oops. JUST realized GPAX is the week right after. right over my head. not sure the gas funds can handle 2 Rausch trips, no matter how BAD i want to.

I actually have wheeled with it and it's been fine....but I plan on extending the bumpstops in the next week or so...just have to get up to the rents place one of these weekends (that's where I keep the X....it's not my DD) Do you have any ideas on how I can extend them? maybe machine a spacer of some sort?

Have you measured how much compression travel you have to lose, so that you know the amount of stop to add?

You only had ~ inch or so of shock up travel left on the shock, but several inches on the axle/stop gap.

As a rubber stop will compress, you might be stopping travel with a stop that all but touches the axle at ride height (Depending upon how level that spot was when we were looking at it...)

I'd do something progressive to help keep it from being too bouncy, with the first inch or so doing the damping, and the rest stopping.

^ the uptravel has been rectified by the installation of a new leaf pack...and 2 more inches of lift. But I still need to extend the bumpstops...to protect the valving from the weight of the rig. and yes I'm thinking a Timbren bumpstop on a custom 2-3 inch extension will work out very very nicely. :)

Yeah, IF i go. Still up in the air. Don't have funds really for like 4 RC trips in a month.. Need to plan which ones i'm going to.

I'm heading that direction the question is whether I land on the 26th or th 5th :D I doubt I can get away with doing both especially since I may be getting something top secret beforehand :D muahahahahaha

I typically cross over the Delaware from Trenton to get up to the PA Turnpike, etc...


So if I go up to RC, I'm probably going about the same way.

I TRY to go the night before, so I'm already there in the AM, but, due to work etc....that happens only about 1/2 the time.....

IE: I can first start taking out the equipment used for work, and pack for play, at 10 pm, so after mid-night, I am either first driving to RC/Comfort Inn..or, just going to sleep, and waking up 3 hours earlier to have time to drive, etc.

....Real top secret if I know it.. :) The install is super easy but time consuming.. Buy some Ti bits and get the bolts ordered.. They are 1/2" heads and maybe 1.25 inches...

this event is a big maybe for me at this point. Funds are tight due to a few unexpected things going on right now (needed parts for overdue maintenance and repairs to my rig) and the shocker is the following week....two weeks after that I am back out in PA for an EXPO in bald eagle state forest so I'm kind of getting killed right now with all of these trips financially. I will know more this coming week but unfortunatley I will not know 100% either way till relatively last moment. Just with this thing were the week before the shocker run...which is being held in the same place....

if you can't get off this weekend....there is a MUCH bigger event the following weekend at the same park. It's called the shocker run and is going to be a huge awesome event. I'd def try and make this...it is def something you do not want to miss. I am leading a green group for newbies and will be giving wheeling instruction and getting newer people acclimated with wheeling so it's an event for all skill levels.

I still have no rear shocks, and have a few other niggling issues....so blues are my ceiling anyway.

We can do some spotting clinics if we need to get some light blues in for newbies, etc.

I just got SLAMMED by someone driving someone elses' car.

I finally suffered some rig damage....they hit the rear bumper at an angle from behind, at what the cops say was probably 20 mph by the time it hit.

The bumper is fine except for some white paint on it...the tire didn't get pushed forward or any other damage from the bumper strike.

They DID manage to jam my exhaust pipe/muffler though, cracking them in a few places.

I plan to wheel it that way, screw it.

OK, I'm leaving to get there in the am ~ 0830

The weather didn't cooperate with the skid plate bolts replacement, so its almost zip tied on....I guess I'll take it proportionally easy.

Rest of story - On the way back from a site yesterday....I was in the left lane on a 3 lane divided hwy, and some girl smashed into me so hard from behind, cutting to my drivers side as she hit, so that it tossed the rear of the truck up and to the drivers side by ~ 8'.

IE: There's a CRASH! and I can see the dotted lane line through my passenger side window as my ass flew up and I was rolling to my passenger side.

Traffic was rolling along at ~ 20 mph when she hit me, the cop estimated she was still doing about 40 when she struck me.

So, I had to delay steering to my passenger side to get out of the roll, as there were cars there...and then they cleared and I went for it....but hard due to the long wait...

...Now, as I have no rear shocks....and a rather flexy suspension...when I DID finally catch it and get it to go right, I THEN had to deal with the NEXT lane of traffic, so I had to steer LEFT again to miss THEM...

At that point, as I steered drivers side...my undamped rear suspension slammed down, and, BOUNCED my ass UP again, as if I was HIT again....

So NOW I have to steer LEFT to get out of the roll...and there's that divider again (Concrete...)....

So, I held it as long as I could to get it to not roll onto the driver's side, and had to cut RIGHT again to avoid the divider (And yeah, the suspension bounced me again...)

The only break was NOW people were no longer along side, and I could hold the steering to the direction I needed to get out of the roll long enough to also go STRAIGHT for a bit....so the bounce was up/down instead of up/down + left/right....and I was able to get to the shoulder.

Once there.....my FIRST thought was WTF happened to THEM?!

I get out, and the car was laying there smoking and crumpled, no sign of an occupant moving, and, the traffic was now just jockeying to PASS it, with NO ONE getting out to see if the driver was OK, etc.

So, anyway - cops showed up, the girl was a basket case, but seemingly unhurt.

My bumper was undamaged except for her paint on it.

She did manage to jam my exhaust in, so the muffler and pipes are cracked in a few places...and a plastic corner/fender thing is banged up...but, essentially, except for the exhaust, I survived unscathed.

Well, except for still having to pick upholstery, foam cushion pieces and a few springs out of my butt from emergency assgrabbing of the seat......

So, anyway....I'll see y'all in the AM!

The Alpha Omega guy called me the night before and told me his clutch was out (Didn't stand me up).

Alex called me to tell me he was not done installing his t-case, but that he was going to keep working on it...

...and he texted me at 00:24 that am to tell me it was done.

I was there. I was in the lot by 845. I saw two 1st gen X's but wasn't sure if one of them was you TJ. For some reason, I thought you had a silver X. I guess I should have gotten your cell number and called you when I got there. I don't think I would have been comfortable running the trails that I'm sure you guys ran. Sorry I couldn't meet up with you but I'm sure I'll see you at another run.
