I just bought an ARB front bumper and I'm just looking for any tips from anyone that has put a new bumper on their 1.5 gen (other than spraying with PB Blaster, already started on that). I looked at KUMA's install thread for the 2000-2001, but I didn't see anything about the air guides. In the ARB instructions, it says to take off the lower air guide for the A/C and trim and attach it to the new bumper. I looked and can't tell what that would be?

Here's KUMA's how-to

Thanks for any help guys and gals!

I'm guessing arb and schrock bumpers are slightly different with directions.. Maybe we could get a guy with a arb bumper to chime in since kumas bumper is schrock and not arb..

Really it should be simple.. Only a few things.. The front plastic and the bumper..
I dont know what air guides they would be talking about? Did you get this off a PDF? maybe share the link..

Well there's a statement in the email from ARB that says that the material cannot be viewed by anyone else. So out of respect for ARB I will not share the document. But here is the section in question. There is no diagram except one showing the 2 holes for the air guide relocation, about 6 inches above the frame mounting holes.

If the vehicle is fitted with A/C, remove
lower air guide from existing bumper. Using side
cutters, trim back the wide sections on the front
outer flanges to allow air guide to be fitted to bull
bar. Install the M6x16mm bolts, flange nuts and ¼”
flat washers (4 of each item).

hmm?? Not sure I dont remember any airguide on Xterror04s front end..
Maybe it has something to do with the electric fan for the AC?

Hmm I dunno. I guess unless someone knows what it is, I'll look for something inside the bumper when I take it off that could be relocated to the holes on the new bumper. If there's nothing then hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

Did you get it new? Hope you get it figured out. I'm guessing when you take the old stuff off and see, it will either make sense or there won't be anything you need to worry about.

lol when I talked to her she said 'someone's coming on Thursday to look at it, but whoever comes first'. I saw a CL ad and responded, and she needed the bumper gone. As far as promising you that she'd hold it, that's a bummer.

I know on mine there is a little piece of plastic between the horns. When you take the bumper off you can't miss it. Probably 6" x 30" I think it just makes it so air from the bumper goes into the ac condenser instead of swirling down to the skid plate.

Yea it sucked. I almost drove there that day but took the chance. Glad it was still a CX member that got it. :) Karma has a way of getting people. It is just annoying to be promised by someone then have them do the opposite. I understand though. She sounded like she really needed the $$ and why risk me passing. She was nice enough to tell me she sold it...so I guess she isn't all bad. Good luck on the install. Hope to see it/you out at a meet sometime in WA. I really want to do some trail riding this year.

I'm sorry it went down like that; I would also be very disappointed if that happened to me. Like you said, she needed the money. I hope we can put this behind us. I also hope to see you and other members at a meet sometime. We really should organize one! Well here are a couple pictures, I installed it today (by myself!).

Looks nice. Great protection. Not to worry, never had any bad taste in my mouth towards you. :) A WA meet would be fun. we have lots of places in this state I imagine. just haven't lived here long enough to explore.
