: My girlfriends new (used).............JEEP!
clow2688 01-15-2011, 02:16 PM haha I know I know, don't give me crap for it, yes it's a jeep. but it's pretty freakin sweet! 1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport, only 100,000 miles, carfax is clean, the engine and tranny work great, engine is clean, interior is in great shape, exterior has some paint fading and a rust spot on the top of the rear trunk hitch, but other than that it's a great little SUV. got it from a guy that had like 4 other cars so he was just trying to get rid of it, got it for a grand so it was a good deal. took some pics, enjoy

first things first! gonna paint the fenders/plastics black, clean up the tires and give it a good wash/wax/detailing. then in a little bit the rust spot and the faded paint is getting fixed. should look pretty good when I'm done with it! oh and another cool thing, the guy who owned it before us installed a pushstart in it, so instead of turning the key, you just insert the key, then push to start.. does that make me and wiz khalifa practically family?
carlosruben84 01-15-2011, 03:41 PM for a grand... I like it!!
clow2688 01-17-2011, 09:49 AM just ordered some basic stuff for her.. wiper blades, new headlights, new rear view mirror... what paint would you guys suggest i use for the plastics and such? I'm thinking bedliner because I used it on my X and love it, and I know its easy to do and looks good... but was also thinking a gloss black, to make it shiny and new looking.. thoughts?
clow2688 01-18-2011, 12:41 AM have been looking over the pictures and trying to figure out if I should take on the task of painting the jeep myself... I know prep is the most important part, so with that being said does anyone have any expertise in the painting department? horror/success stories? let me know, if i do this i will be starting it within the month
RockMozart13 01-18-2011, 01:34 AM awesome truck, i've always figure that model being the only other truck i could really see myself driving.
i'd start with a total once over clean every nook and crany under every seat, in the wheel wells, the dash, get some compressed air bottles, go nuts. - See what really needs to go in order for her to take pride and care of the car for the future.
I painted all the plastics on the X and 100% about the prep, there's one piece i didn't prep and its the first to show wear and has always looked different than every other piece I painted. Good Luck
GlamisDunesStar 01-18-2011, 07:44 AM I would buy that for a grad :) Congrats.
TimRich 01-18-2011, 08:17 AM Cool! Can't beat it for a grand. Well I might tackle painting it myself since the paint is in bad shape as it is. I would read up on it before you start and maybe practice on the gas flap or something to see how it turns out before you start the whole truck. This way if you mess up you can strip it down and start over. Just my 2 cents... Good luck!

NOOOOOOOO dont do this to me!! I already made a build plan for it but it got vetoed by the female, and since she paid for it and is paying the insurance, she is the boss :usuck: I might try and just put things on it without her noticing, i mean, since she didnt even notice my 2 inch lift I think i could get away with it!
drbandkgb 01-18-2011, 07:15 PM We love Heeps here :) Hell I own one... It has the 4.0 right? Bullet proof motor..
And it matches your X..
I have a buddy here in TN that seems to pick these up for 500 to 1K all the time.. he puts a little work in them and sells them off... Nice looking Heep
clow2688 01-18-2011, 08:02 PM yeeeeah thanks man thats what i thought when i drove it around, i kept saying, "damn, the engine sounds great??!" yeah its the 4.0, how is this thing gonna do on gas mileage? better than the X i hope
Macland 04-26-2011, 08:47 AM I painted my first pickup. Did all the prep work with my dad. Get a lot of wet dry sandpaper and a water hose and get after it. If you have access to a sand blaster that'd be good. We even used a palm sander and belt sander in some areas. Just try some different things and see what works best. I had a blast doing it and it really didn't matter if a mistake was made because we were fixing it in the first place on a cheap vehicle. When you paint definitely do it in a building with no wind but plenty of ventilation. Make sure and do a clear coat, we skipped that and it was noticeable down the road.
