I am headed to the previous owner's bank tomorrow to pay off his note. In exchange I'm getting a 2001 XE V6 4WD with 114,000 miles. The front fender has a little parking lot damage, but the truck is otherwise clean and drives well. From the research I've done, I feel like $5,000 is a good deal even if I end up buying a new fender.
I plan on changing out the plugs, T-belt and H20 pump pretty soon. All fluids (incl. diffs, tranny and t-case) were changed at 105,000. The X hasn't done any serious wheeling and drives dreat at interstate speeds.
Are there any specific issues that I need to look for? I checked the FAQs and it doesn't seem like there are too many common issues. I have owned a Jeep Cherokee for the last 6 years and I know what to look for there, but this will be my first Nissan. My fiance has only owned Nissans and Infinities for the last 12 years. After driving her dad's Frontier around town and on the soupy tractor roads on their farm, I decided to take a closer look at the Xterra.
I'm sure I'll ask plenty of questions that have been asked before (I promise to do a search first) so I'll apoligize in advance!
Thanks,
Matt
