This is a really sad day i dont know much about cars but i do know about computers, now i have an 02 X and i was hearing this squeaking squealing noise when i drove even if i wasnt applying the brakes.

So i took it into the dealship and told them the problem they took a look at it and came back saying they had to reset the rotors, bearings, brake calipers, brake pads and it would run me about 300$ i looked at the guy like What!!!

So i asked what about just changing the brake pads 200$ What!!! so i passed and i just decided to buy the OEM brake pads for my 02 X.

Now what bugs me is they wanted to charge me 300$ to fix a squeaking noise when all they had to do was replace the brake pads because the little metal indicator was touching the rotor.

I actually knew what the problem was before i took it in but to think that people wanna charge you an arm and a leg to fix a simple problem is just wrong.

Even the computer buisness they charge to much and dont get me started on hospitals charging uninsured people its crazy 200k to an uninsured person and 50k for the same thing for an insured person how fukd is that.

So now im gonna get the how to change brakes for dummies book or get a friend of mine to help me put them on.

From what I understand, they dont cut the rotors anymore, they just replace them, which is why it cost so much. So you're paying for 2 new rotors, pads & the labor. I've always done my own brakes, and no, you dont need new rotors every time.

If you dont know how to do it, I would suggest getting it done professionally. Being able to stop is a pretty vital thing.

brakes arent to hard just leave one side together in case you forget how it came apart first time you hit the pedal you wont have any braaaaakes check fluid when done on your rotors check for grooves if not bad dont replace but if they are bad warped or grooved they will tear up new pads or cause the front end to shake good luck and go for it
