: Replacing AC/Heater fan switch?

On a 2000 Xterra, 4WD 6cyl. Automatic.

Any ideas how to get to this? I can't get the dash off, and my fan isn't working. I tried replacing the resistor but that didn't fix it. I'm pretty sure it's the switch because it began intermitenly going out and I could bang on the dash above the switch and it would work. but now banging no longer works. :(

Sorry I can't help with this problem but wanted to say welcome to the club! Where in Alabama are you? I'm in Decatur.

Thanks, I'm hoping someone can tell me how to get that dash off. I've tried taking screws out but obviously something is still holding it in place.

I'm in Mc Calla, it's between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.

Interior maintenance is not my forte`. Too much breakable plastic stuff for me to fool with but I'm sure somebody here can point you in the right direction.

www.xterrafirma.com (http://www.xterrafirma.com) has the repair manuals in .pdf where you can read through them. Maybe there is something in there. The menu is in the lower right corner of their homepage.

Maybe we can get together and hit some trails a few times.

Good luck!

well, no help from that pdf on the dash. they've sure made it tough to replace that switch!

well, i found from another site that the two screws under the ac/heater controls are the only screws, and it's all clips from there. so you just slide something thin under there until you hit a clip then carefully work it off and go around till you get them all. just in case someone else here ever needs to get in there.
