Im sure there is a write up on how to paint the wheels, but i am looking for people who have personally done this. I want black wheels but dont feel like forking out the $600 for the procomps that i want, so what is the best paint to use. and should i use a primer if so which would be a good option. thanks for the input.

search and read man, SEARCH AND READ!!!:aufkopfhauen-big:

1. rust-o-leum bedliner IMO, from a spray can, sells at lowes for 7 bucks
2. no primer needed, just get a wire brush and brush all the rims off real good, then rub away all grit and dirt with acetone, then paint, let dry, put back on X, BOOM! black wheels... http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25726&highlight=painting+wheels&page=2

I painted mine. Just remember prep is the key to a good paint job. Just take your time, get the right paint and it will look great for many years.

If you have the ability to do so, I would suggest bead blasting the wheels before painting. Clean them well prior to paint with either Acetone or MEK. Wear gloves to both protect your hands and to keep the surface clean. Any contaminants on the surface (such as greasy fingerprints) will prevent the paint from sticking.

Just get some fine grit sandpaper. I think I used a 3000 grit. Just enough to scuff them up a bit so the paint will stick. I would think a scotchbright pad would work also.

Scotchbrite pads will work. Prepaint prep work is definitely the key. Don't skimp on it. Make sure that it's all scuffed up and clean and you will be happy with the results.

I used rustoleum textured black spray paint on mine this past summer and I love the way they turned out. The texture of them covered up any mistakes I made with painting(I tend to rush myself) and also made all of the curb/rock rash disappear. The finish feels like sandpaper but looks almost like teflon. They have held up perfectly.

Here is a pic of how they turned out.

I love them. The ride is a little rougher than the street tires I had on before them, but that is to be expected. It isn't bad at all, though. I honestly don't notice hardly any noise except in some parking lots when I'm going really slow into a parking space. Usually my music is way louder than my tires. I haven't had any problems with them in mud, rocks, snow, rain, etc. I think I have only been stuck once since I got them and that was because I was being dumb trying to go through a ditch that was filled with ice, mud and slush. They are wearing really good too for as much as I drive.

I painted mine with Krylon fusion gloss black over the summer.. just rubbed them with a scotchbrite, cleaned them with acetone and then put 3 coats on

word. those look nice. i ended up going with the rustoleum bed liner spray. i thought that the flat black would look better with the color of my X. its night armour so i thought the glossy would stick out a little to much. ill post pictures when i finish
