I'm gonna be doing my BL in a few weeks... hopefully and I was thinking about the fuel tank extension you have to add on. While doing my PML I took a long look at my gas tank (namely because of the huge dent I put in the skid) and how it's mounted.

Instead of doing a fuel tank extension, is it possible to modify the mounts and actually lift the tank itself with the body?

Anybody tried this or ever heard of anyone trying this?

Well, if you are going with the 2" BL, you do not have to add the extension. It is just one of those rip off things from AC.

as far as the lift on the BL, You need to do some cutting, some 2" steel spacer buying and some 1/2" hole drilling from what I have gathered in my brief views under there.

Yeah, filler extension not neccessary. Lifting the gas tank - probably not a bad a idea, but probably not necessary either. Just get a gas tank skid plate.

Ok good deal. I'll take a close look at the mounts once I get into the BL. I'll probably leave it as is for a brief time but I think I'm going to mod the mounts and get the gas tank tucked up inside and a little more protected by the frame rail.

Yeah, I think that you might need (3) 2" spacers. Probably one with a 5/16" ID, and the others should be a little thicker. Possibly 3/8", if they come in that size. Either way, some loctite and fender washers are in order.
