Just got some new 265/70/16 Dynamo ATM tires for my 2001 X, tried them out in the northeastern snowstorm and they did great.

Mechanic said the existing tires still had plenty of tread left but I didn't ask how much. I took this photo with a penny - anyone have an idea as to what % might be left?

The tires are General Grabber AW if that matters.

To get an exact measure you'd need a tread depth gauge and to know original tread depth....looks like they still have some meat on them so I'd say at least 50%

Old school - If you put the penny in the tread with Lincoln upside down and you can see his head, it's time for new tires. It depends on the tire, but most have wear indicators. They'll be little raised spots in the tread and if they're showing, it's time to replace 'em.

I would say between 40-50%
