in a bumper? Do I need the tubing for the headlights, and center tube? I am having a really hard time trying to decide between clow's and a shrocks. I know either will do the job.

The upper tubing is strictly for rollover and/or front end protection from things above the front bumper line.

Depends on how much you want to protect the front end, the look that you want to have and if you're going to go through a ton of trees. I always wanted to have front end tubing and run tree wires to the roof rack. Can't do that without tubing.

Might just take your personal choice and run with it. This is kind of like asking which color you should paint your rig. It's that personal of a choice.

Well both bumpers are around the same price, and I am thinking of going with just the center tube because with the body lift and the PML the only things I will worry about are deers. as for the trees the parks I plan on going to have pretty good trails.

You know what i do...look at other rigs on this site to decide what i want and like!

Deer is the same for singular or plural.

"Look mom, a deer!"

"Nice sized herd of deer."

Sounds like you just answered your own question. Get clow's bumper, have a winch plate welded to it that also ties to your frame and you're all set. It's even set up for the body lift that you'll eventually get on.

Otherwise, you're going to order a Shrock and wait for a long time before actually getting it at your door.

Thats what got me thinking, I was ok with the thought of all the tubing.and then I saw it without and with the center only. I havent hit a deer in IL in the 6 years I have lived here and I would think with the 3 1/2" lift it would hit one with the bumper. Dam you shrokworks and your pictures.

this is where I will be spending my time.

Well, you're not going to have 3 1/2" of lift, you're only going to have 1 1/2" of lift and a 2" body lift. With the bumper being extended above the rails the extra 2" to make it look right with the body lift, it will be putting extra leverage on the frame rails.

That's why you'll need to get the winch plate integrated with the frame rails so you won't pull the bumper off the frame with just a few bolts attaching it (shrock or other, doesn't matter). So if you were to hit a deer, the bumper will have to be pretty strong to deflect it away and down from the front end (clow's bumper will work perfect for that as well as a shrock, but clow's will allow for more customization [a couple more threads and even a poll will let you know what you should do there]).

Plus, later on, should you decide to add headlight bars, you can. Any fabber could handle that.

Since it was the same price for clow's and a shrocks I went with a shrocks front and rear bumper, I also emailed them asking about winches since I bought both bumpers.

I mean Rook's bumper turned out awesome, I don't know if we can judge the company from past concerns, I heard it either changed ownership or they improved it a lot. Just hearsay of course, so I could definitely be wrong.

apologies on reviving this thread, however, what is the problem with the kenmtnac "Tactical armor group" bumpers?

In the past they had problems with fit and I believe customer service. I hear they are under new ownership, and Rook and Izverg both had KMA bumpers and they turned out fine.

Im really liking these bumpers honestly..
I LOVE shrock bumpers, but these are alot less, and come with more options.
On my budget, a shrock bumper would come to me with no hoops, skids, shackles, or even paint, I would be doing it myself.

With these guys, I can get hoops, paint, a front hitch for alot less and it looks like it will be faster too...

I ordered my front bumper from shrocks in bare steel, I enjoy painting it to look exactly the way I want. I bought sliders from another member here and when they showed up the first thing I did was sand them down and get them ready for paint. they are now painted and installed and the front bumper will be the same color.along with the skid plates.
