Having the exact same engine as the xterra , why is it that the pathfinder is rated at a higher horsepower . I know that they are required to use premium fuel but it has to be something deeper than that . Timing , airflow, I dont know does anyone have any ideas ? Maybe there is some simple little tweek we can do to get a few more horsepower without spending hundreds of dollars.

its the same as the late model pathfinders and the 350z, same motor, the VQ35. the pathfinder's motor is just detuned, or better yet since the VQ35 pathy came first, then the 350z has a more tuned motor, id put money that its mostly in the computer controls, air/fuel blah blah, im sure the cams are different, ex: less conservative in the pathy than the X

Just put on a few type "R" stickers they are good for 5HP each....
