: Change to synthetic?

Hello. I am new to this site. I am the original owner of a 2000 X 4WD. 117K miles. I've never changed the ATF and curious about whether to drain fluid and replace or have a flush done. Heard that a flush could cause problems. I also want to replace transfer and differential fluids. Can anyone provide insight on switching to synthetic. Is it practical? It is no longer my primary vehicle but more of a grocery getter for the wife. However, I love my Xterra and want this vehicle to last so I'm willing to invest some money into it. I also have a crack in an exhaust manifold and am close to needing the entire exhaust system replaced. Any advice on what I should do when I replace the exhaust system? I am also open to suggestions on other simple modifications to improve mileage and performance.
Thanks,
USMC94

first off welcome

the intake mod in the DIY section wont hurt your mpg, and its very cheap

i have never heard of a flush causing problems, but if youve had your atf in it for 107k then im shocked you dont have problems anyway, go full syn, do a flush, if you have problems after the flush its from not changing your fluid IMO
