Howdy!
I'm in Tallahassee, FL. Just bought my 2006 X this year.
I'd love to hear from folks who tow with their X! I hope the hubby and I can get a camper in the next year or so.
I've got to start from the tow package and go up. I'd like to know if anyone has had good/bad experiences with their tow packages. I'll proly have the work done, cause I've seen what a heffer cow wiring can be. Last time I helped install something was YEARS ago.
So shout back! I'd love to hear from you folks.
Happy Holidays from the Panhandle!

Welcome. Get the wiring harness that comes with the relays. The X is already wired, plugs are on the drivers side behind the rear wheel.

Agreed, the wiring is very easy. What size trailer are you planning to get? I've towed a car hauler with a Dodge Neon before. The power and breaking are not problems at all on the truck. The only thing that you need to watch out for are crosswinds. It is very easily affected by strong crosswinds. Also, if the trailer is over 3000 lbs make sure and get a trailer brake controller (also easy plug and play) to keep that trailer under control. You will also probably want to upgrade the rear suspension with either helper springs or air bags. If you have any other questions ask.

We're looking a tiny campers - R-Pods, Small Coleman's, Jay-co's, Coachmen Apex, etc... Just dreamin' right now. Everything I'm wanting is 2,800 to 3,200 lbs dry weight, then you've got to think about water, gear, propane tanks, etc...
I'm reading more on the tow packages, and I could totally do that myself. That'll save me $ right out of the blocks.
Yeah, I've been RV'ing with my family for 20+ years. We've had everything from a Dodge Truck with a 14' Jay-co to a Suburban with a 35' Coachmen. I know about break boxes, it'll be a must if I get the camper I want. It's just good news to me that the Xterra is so user friendly! *squeals & jumps up-n-down*
