I have an 03 and just discovered I need new tires. I have General Grabber AW on it now and was going to just get the same thing. Right move or anyone have suggestion for another tire I should be looking at.

There are quite a few members here that would be happy to make a recommendation for you. We'll need to know a little more about what you are looking for though.

What do you like and dislike about the tires you have now. Where do you live? How do you use your Xterra? What do you want your next set of tires to do for you?

NO tire does everything the "best", all have strengths and weaknesses.

A lot comes down to the priorities of the user.

For example, if you are purely a street guy, and live where its dry and hot year round, you would NOT be happy with the tire that made the guy in the Poconos who goes off roading every weekend happy.

What MAKES a tire good in some terrain (Deep snow for example), can make it poor in other terrain (Packed snow for example).

Soft sticky rubber gives great traction, but tends to wear out faster, and hard long lasting rubber might skid like crazy.

A short sidewall might give responsive handling, but rip out on pot holes, and be useless off road, etc.

A tall sidewall might allow the tire to conform to the terrain and get good traction off road, and ride softly, but have less sharp handling, etc.

...and so forth.

So, Where ARE you, and, what are your priorities?

:wink-big:

PS - It will be hard to screw up, and get a tire WORSE than a Grabber....so its all good from here out.
