I'm considering a used first gen Xterra, but all the nicer ones seem to be hitchless. Anyone have any experience with aftermarket hitches? FWIW I bought my hitch off ebay for about $100 and the wiring kit with the module for 4 pins from Auto Zone for about $26. Mine was a manual so no tranny cooler issues. I towed some pretty heavy stuff once and my boat regularly and had no issues. ggunn 01-01-2008, 10:39 AM I bought a hitch on line and the wiring kit from courtesy Nissain on line. No frame stiffeners, but all I ever tow is a 5X10 utility trailer with one or two sportbikes (motorcycles) on it. No issues yet.
