: Looking for stock fog lamps
Delusnl 11-23-2010, 10:04 PM Hey guys I am looking to put fog lights into my 05 stock bumper! I do a lot of snowboarding so am in fog and snow alot so I want the best lighting possible! I've always heard that yellow bulbs and lenses are better in the fog, so I have a few questions to follow.
1. Are yellow lights better for fog?
2. If I buy clear lense, but install a yellow bulb, will that do the trick?
3. Anybody have any fog/driving lights they are willing to sell?
4. Why don't we have a classified section?!
fallen 11-23-2010, 10:20 PM classified section is located on the black bar under the far right Xterra in the logo (top of the page)

Yellow or amber is best for fog...with the least glare, and the best visibility.
The other wavelengths of light tend to glare more, so the suspended water droplets tend to glow, making the fog a thicker haze, especially as the light approaches the blue end of the spectrum.
If the bulb is clear, and the lens is yellow, it works, but, the light output is reduced somewhat by the lens absorbing some of the light.
If the bulb is putting out yellow light (As opposed to clear light through yellowed bulb glass), you have the most usable light per watt, etc.
If you have a clear light source, but a yellowed glass bulb, it is similar in output to the clear bulb and yellow lens, etc.
If you get driving lights, they will glare too much for fog.
Fog lights need to be mounted as low as possible to work best.
Driving lights need to be mounted as high as possible to work best.
Hope that helps!

fangars 11-24-2010, 09:45 AM I went with Hella Micro DE in my 2005 bumper mouth.
I like the separate control of them having their own dedicated switch and the adjustments that can be made compared to the OEM fogs.

Delusnl 11-24-2010, 11:04 AM Fangars how much does that thing run?
That might look funny with four yellow lights in the center haha
I'm assuming the answer is no but doesn't hurt to ask, will 1st gen fogs fit a 2nd gen?

The Bumper Mouth Bracket itself is $50 Black Friday pricing effective til the end of Nov.
The lights are however cheap you can find them, amazon is usually a good place to start looking.
Other lights can be used besides the Hella Micro DE but I find them to be ideal for the application.
Here are image of other lights.

Delusnl 11-24-2010, 12:21 PM Ok sweet, I'll take a look at that!
As far as those fogs I posted, will they fit an 05 bumper? Factory placement

I am pretty sure the do not fit, another thing you have to take into consideration is whether or not you intend to tie into factory wiring, if so you want the connectors to be the same or you will be splicing or buying different connectors. There is also the stalk, I am not sure but I believe you have to get a different stalk if you want to tie into the factory headlights. Someone else can chime in on that.
I myself would just wire them separate from factory wiring, you get to run them independently of headlights and no stalk to buy and install.
It all depends on what you really want.
Delusnl 11-25-2010, 02:28 PM I wanna get factory fog lights for as cheap as possible and then replace the bulbs with a bright yellow bulb.
Loki512 11-25-2010, 03:30 PM best look at nissanonlineparts.com they are the cheapest for the OEM fogs. couple issues:
1) you need to replace the light stalk on the left of the steering column, not too hard
2) the OEMs can only be run when the low-beam headlights are on unless you jimmy the wiring
3) MOST IMPORTANTLY- you need to be factory pre-wired for the OEM kit (or else you have to figure out how to wire it up yourself) if you have an S model or higher, you should be pre-wired, just get up under the bumper and look for a wire/harness taped up inside, it might be hard to see, but look real good before you decide you don't have it.
Delusnl 11-25-2010, 09:09 PM Wiring isn't gonna be a problem for me, I just wanna find lights for cheap is all thanks for the sight I'll check it out!
