I'm looking to tap into the stock reverse lights. but i would need to do it closer to the steering wheel. does anyone know where the wires are. and it would be helpful if there was seperate wires for each light. or am i going to have to run wires?

why do you need the wires up by the steering wheel? going to put back up lights on the front on your X? :P

sounds like you need to use a toner. (wire toner used to identify 1 wire in a jumble) they also have the wire schematic in the FSM with the pin-outs. if you look at your back up lights look at the color code of the wires connected to the bulbs and try to find that up front.. might work..

if your trying to add extra back up lights use the existing back up lighting circuit (connected to the backup lights) and use it to trigger a relay that switches on the new/bigger backup lights.

Following the wires is the only way I would know.

Reverse Lights YELLOW/RED (+) DRIVERS KICK

I'm pretty sure the lights are on the same feed, I could be wrong though. If you want to make each light light up separately you'd need to use a relay in between each light and the feed wire, otherwise you'd end up just lighting up both (basically you'd have to cut the lines back by the bulbs and wire in there). If you just need the signal from the reverse lights, the info above will work.. but by the sounds of it you're looking to light up the reverse lights and not use the signal to kick something else on :)

by flasher relay, you mean the turn signal flasher relay?

If so, you'd be better off snipping the line at the reverse light in half, wiring pin #30 of the relay to your reverse light, pin #87A to the reverse light feed, pins #87 and #85 to your turn signal on that side, and pin #86 to ground.

That would allow the reverse lights to work like normal, but also flash when the turn signal was on (but it wouldn't flash when in reverse with the turn signal on as both input pins 87A and 87 would be at +12v, but there's an easy work around for that too)

By flasher relay I think he meant like this:
So yes kizzolie, that's why I ran mine for flashers

My direct link doesn't want to work sorry...
