My 2003 is cold in the cab, we have the heat up full and the heat is good, but we constantly feel cold air coming up from either the shifter console or under the dash. Does anyone have any ideas why I am so cold in my cab? Granted in Northern Ontario, and it was -26 last night, we couldn't turn the blower down coming home, to counter act the cold air blowing up from below.
thanks for any suggestions

if there is any pressure leak between the cabin and the outside, air will come thru the door handles
dunno if thats yalls pro, but it happens in my truck

I know exactly what you mean, and it happens in my MR2 as well. Get heat for a while and then nothing. Almost cold actually.
I would investigate the heather core.

If you have the in-cabin filter...check them out...mine were dirty enough that the cold air being pulled in could not go anywhere...replaced them and problem is almost completely gone...

I discovered the same problem in my recently purchased 03 Xterra. It is coming thru two problem areas: the door handles and from under the dash on the passenger side (easy to feel the draft at 130 k/hr in -30 on the highway). The worst draft is coming from under the dash due to a gap that runs directly to the rear of the engine compartment. For a temporary solution we stuffed a mitten up there and it worked pretty well. I am thinking about carving out a piece of styrofoam and tucking it up there.
As for the door handles... my brother in-law is a mechanic and says you need to remove the door panel and put insulation around the area to prevent the draft.

Hey... just to let you know. I stuffed some pink insulation up into the cavity behind the dash. It didn't take much to fill in the spaces, worked like a charm (can be easily removed for repairs if need be) and you can't even see it. Took about 5 minutes. Just took a long road trip in freezing temps and my passenger said there was no draft at all. Fixing that problem also fixed the air pressure problem and stopped the draft from sucking thru the door handles.
Worked fantastic.

So am I. Was seriously thinking about bringing it back to the dealer and trading it for something else. So far I love the X but we spend 7 months a year driving around at -20 to -30 and I was a little worried I might be facing an expensive trip to the shop to make it workable. Alas, a simple fix I hope works for others.
