Hi Everyone,
Im sure this has been discussed, but i have searched and searched and havent found a thread which fits what i want to do. Maybe there is and i have to refine my searching skills. It seems most new tire threads have to do with going off road.
I am at the end of stockers, the 265/70R16 BFG's. I am currently looking for my next tire, but cant decide on what i want to do. I do not do a lot of heavy off roading, the occasional trip through some semi traveled trails. I definately want a tire i can keep on all season, with decent winter traction. I live in mass and also live on a somewhat steep driveway. It seems as though an A/T of some sort should do it. I havent had a chance to experience the stock BFG's in snow, but it seems from peoples discussions that theyre not very goood. Also, i would like to stick with the stock size as well.
Any suggestions out there?
Thanks

If you want to stick with the stock tire size, but want a better tire, the BFG AT ko is probably your best bet.
BTW - There were several stock sizes, including 265/75/16....which is an easier size to find than the 265/70/16....and therefore often less expensive.

Dont confuse the long trails with the true TA KO all terrain, it is like comparing footballs with potatos.
You can usually save a little bit of cash by switching to a 265/75-16. It is a much more popular size than 265/70-16.

The KO's are a great long lasting tire... The GY duratracs are a nice all season tire too..

Both the Duratracs and KO's look like a very aggressive tire. How is highway driving and wear of these tires. I travel about 30 miles a day round trip on the highway for work.

If the BFG AT ko's look "very aggressive" to you...I'm guessing your
"I do not do a lot of heavy off roading, the occasional trip through some semi traveled trails."
Is more like "I do not off road at all, I might go on a dirt road some time in the future though...."
So, for great winter traction, and long wear, that's probably going to be a kick-ass AT for you (What you asked for).
People average about 90k miles per set on these, with a ~ 75k-110k range.
I have 95k miles on a set that just passed the NJ Inspection (Still street legal) for example.
Obviously, snow tires, mud tires, and all terrains are all going to work less well on the road than a racing slick or highway tire...but WAAAY better in deeper snow and muddy trails, through rocks, etc.
Off road, the Mud tires do best, but are the worst ON road.
All Terrains, analogous to a "Cross Trainer" type sneaker...work well on, and off road, but between the other two which are more specialized.
This is why AT's are a popular compromise...they work on AND off road.
