I just bought an 07 xterra, and iv been looking for some ways to customize it. I was just curious if anyone makes any type of body kits for an xterra. i know its not the type of truck that someone would typically buy a body kit for, but I was curious cause I cant find one anywhere. thanks for your input.

i havent seen any body kits what so ever...If your looking to customize i would go with a brush guard or shrock front and rear bumper. Maybe switch out the headlights and tail lights and add some lights up on the rack. i know this is what most people do but hey...thats what the trucks for. Large tires are a must too

thanks for the input. I was just looking up some taillights, and i found some altezza taillights for an 06 xterra. do you know if the specs are the same from the 06 to the 07 xterra, because i have a feeling they would fit, but i dont want to buy them if im not sure. do you know if the taillights are the same on an 06 and 07 xterra?

Shrockworks makes a front and rear spoiler and side skirts. I think it is exactly what you are looking for.

I would not recommend a brushguard. While they look pretty good they are known to be damage multipliers in minor wrecks. If you want to go for the bumpers get Shrocks or some other replacement bumper.

i looked at the stuff that shrockworks has, and its all stuff for off roading and mountain climbing.

one of the things i didnt like on the xterra when i got it, and its actucally starting to grow on me, is how the front and back end is the plastic material, and doesnt look like the rest of the truck.

i imagine that nissan did that for the off roading in case you hit a rock or scrape the front or back end, but i was looking for any type of body kit that would replace the front and back end. i have been looking around too and it looks like shrockworks makes the only type of body kit that would fit an xterra.

body kit AKA something that you put on your car / truck / suv that changes the way it looks. so far iv gotten 10 replies with great info. thanks guys and keep it coming.

if someone wants to be a smart ass with me thats fine but im here to get ideas for my truck and thats it.

shadow - thanks for the reply on the exhaust. i like the way it looks with the rims and taillights. im probably gonna set up mine a little different though. did you design your exhaust your self or did you buy the flowmaster and have someone else design and install it?

Viper,I took it to a shop to have the Y pipe replaced. The mechanic owned a '06 Fronty and suggested I let me build me a custom exhaust.I just lucked out!BTW he cut off the front 2 cats while he was at it.

Well, The website that I gave you was something that might be more helpful for finding an actual body kit.

Not to sound argumentative, but Strikedistance was just saying that Shrock makes body armor, not a kit. Not that I have to tell you, but a kit is more for aesthetics, where as Armor is more functional for off roading.

yeah im not looking so much for body armor as much as some stuff to improve the way it looks. like i mentioned before i had a 2001 camaro for a few years, and i did a lot to it, including headers, cold air intake, custom exhaust, custom taillights, etc.

I think the xterras are great trucks, but there is definitly a lot more out there than I thought there was before that can be added to the truck, like the taillights, exhaust, etc.

I like the stuff that shrockworks has, but that stuff is for hardcore off roaders. all the trucks and jeeps on that site look like they could climb a mountain. im not going to be using my truck for that stuff, althought I wish i could.

You wish you could but you can!

offroading is not for everyone. Since the Xterra is primarily focused on people who like to go offroad, camping, outdoors type of stuff, it will take longer for there to be more "street" modifications available. If you can put out the $$, custom body work is probably your best bet.

In reality, a good body shop should be able to prep and paint all your plastic to match the truck paint, and it shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg.

Yeah that was dragonplayboys... he ended up selling it and getting a dodge ram SRT-10, so he doesnt really go to the forum anymore.

But what he did was take all of the stuff off and paint it. Im pretty sure he did it himself, though i could be wrong.

He is a lot of help. I have emailed him several times with questions about modifications such as LED lighting. here is his email address.
