TimRich 09-24-2010, 05:46 PM Nice work Dave! Just want to say thanks for spear heading this event. I'm really looking forward to it!
TomsRedX 09-24-2010, 07:33 PM Looking forward to this event! Great work getting this to happen Dave!
NCPhotoTrekker 09-24-2010, 08:23 PM You've really done a lot to put all of this together Dave. I am really going to try and join the crew with my family in tow. They are all for it...even the camping is a go at this point. Looking forward to seeing the plant, and visiting Woolys. I need to do some thread research on the park to make sure I can do it with a stocker as finances won't allow for much in the way of mods between now and then.
drbandkgb 09-24-2010, 08:26 PM Yes Woolys is a cake walk... It has parts id keep away from but over all your ok..
I ran stock there several times.

Drake 10-12-2010, 01:35 PM Good job David! I'm glad to see this idea we've been tossing around finally come to fruition. Sending a pm your way.
J Everett 10-12-2010, 01:38 PM This is awesome. I'm planning for it already. :)

Noxious007 10-12-2010, 02:39 PM I think this is going to be cool as hell. Thanks Dave for working so hard to put this together! I'm planning on attending as well.
BlackNight 10-12-2010, 06:13 PM This is amazing Dave. thumbs up for making this happen.. I emailed Smyrna plant, 3 months ago about having a tour given, but I got no answers from them.. damm, this is great.. even though its 15hours of driving one way, its gonna be amazing.. I guess, I gotta figure out a plan to make it on those days..
BlondeXgirl 10-12-2010, 06:17 PM Wish I could, but that's way too far!
drbandkgb 10-12-2010, 06:23 PM Its only too far if you live in Canada :) or Montana :)
NCPhotoTrekker 10-12-2010, 06:35 PM Wish I could, but that's way too far!
It was way too far when the X was down and out in the garage without an engine. What better way to break in the new motor! Come on it will be fun.
NCPhotoTrekker 10-12-2010, 06:40 PM Hey Dave, would you mind if I snagged a full res version of your logo to make a shirt from? Nothing too special like screen printing, just a transfer sheet to iron on. Hey, I'm cheap, but really like the logo!
BlondeXgirl 10-12-2010, 07:01 PM Haha....ohhhh....okay I'll think about it :D
Roughly 300 in gas for ppl with 1st gens in Pa..
I'll really need to think about this one..
NCPhotoTrekker 10-12-2010, 07:09 PM Roughly 300 in gas for ppl with 1st gens in Pa..
I'll really need to think about this one..
Maybe we can get Exxon to be a sponsor! It will run be between 150 and 200 in gas if I'm not mistaken. Not sure the mileage, basing it on a trip to Pigeon Forge and adding some.

Ricer-X 10-13-2010, 09:34 AM bout 170 in gas for me
wouldnt it be cool to 4x4 my xterra before then
yes it would be cool
hmmm
chuckamazuk 10-13-2010, 10:38 AM I want to make it down. I'll pencil in the date and see how it goes.
Chuck
BlackNight 10-13-2010, 11:20 AM road trip?????
I'm down, 880+ miles one way, oooyea, road trip..
RacerXXL 10-13-2010, 11:21 AM I'm in depending on the work schedule so I voted maybe.
To those responding it's to far, if it's a money issue set aside $15 or $20 a week from now until then to offset the cost. If it's a distance issue....man up, :mocking: it's a once in a lifetime kind of opportunity you won't want to miss. I've been on a few plant tours at Suzuki in Japan and you can't believe the organized chaos that is an assembly line. We were all literally in shock that the bikes even ran after watching how rapidly they went together.
Ricer-X 10-13-2010, 11:23 AM yeah its gonna be 815mi one way for me, but im down, i wouldnt miss this for the world
and my X should be 4x4 by then
this is so damn exciting, lol
NCPhotoTrekker 10-13-2010, 11:28 AM There should be a door prize for the person that drives the furthest to get to the meet. That doesn't include wrong turns cause I could let my wife drive and it would take us a week, and 8000 miles to get there from one state over LOL!!!!! She's her own GPS (gets places slowly) but she sure tries to make up for it by using the skinny pedal while she's lost.
BlondeXgirl 10-13-2010, 11:36 AM Okay I'm going. :D
RacerXXL 10-13-2010, 11:37 AM There should be a door prize for the person that drives the furthest to get to the meet.
Great idea. They do this at all the rifle matches I attend and it's great as it sometimes help to push folks over the edge to attend plus it helps to offset the cost a bit for the winner.
road trip?????
Hell yeah bro!
Xterra Mike 10-13-2010, 01:36 PM Hell yeah bro!
Quite possibly.
J Everett 10-13-2010, 01:40 PM yeah its gonna be 815mi one way for me, but im down, i wouldnt miss this for the world
and my X should be 4x4 by then
this is so damn exciting, lol
We should meet up somewhere in LA and convoy.
Ricer-X 10-13-2010, 02:18 PM We should meet up somewhere in LA and convoy.

TOO Far from Cali
Wuss.
:zunge2-big:
Drake 10-14-2010, 02:00 PM I'm hoping a lot of you northeastern members can make it down for this. It seems like I've known several of you guys for a while now living vicariously through the forums. :D It will be cool to finally shake hands and toss back one or two ;)
The same goes for you Colorado boys! If you aren't going to Moab, your asses better be here! :mocking:
TimRich 10-14-2010, 02:02 PM I'm definately going to try and make this. I think I'll start saving now so I don't have to worry about gas for the trip... Can't wait!
Drake 10-14-2010, 02:06 PM Awesome Tim! Do the best you can bro. Drag up all the Floridians you can get. It will be great to see all of the CX "O.G's " there. :D
Oh and when I say "Floridians", I meant beach babes. :mocking:
drbandkgb 10-14-2010, 02:06 PM I just hope I can make the trip :)
Drake 10-14-2010, 02:08 PM OH you're making the trip. I know people! I'm not Italian but I know a few folks who are very "persuasive". :D
drbandkgb 10-14-2010, 02:10 PM Shrockworks? hehehe Warn??? One of those might bring me out :D
Drake 10-14-2010, 02:12 PM How about Bubba with a 12-gauge and a coon hound? :hilarious:
drbandkgb 10-14-2010, 02:16 PM hmmmmm??? thinking
TimRich 10-14-2010, 02:18 PM I wish we had some Florida hotties that were on CX...LOL I'd let them ride with me! Don't know if the wifey would like it though...HAHAHA
Snow Chaser 10-14-2010, 02:54 PM I might make this!
Right between MOAB and ECXC!
If I go, I'm convoying with someone, I know that much.
NCPhotoTrekker 10-14-2010, 04:41 PM Shrockworks? hehehe Warn??? One of those might bring me out :D
Lets see, this is in June of '11.......I'm guessing that Warn will be next sponsor, unless we are talking a gift certificate from Shrock. That would be awesome for Shrock contribute. Its a shame that most of their stuff doesn't cross over between the bodystyles. Would we be lucky enough to see something for each?????

For Generation specific products, I think a coupon for a discount, etc...would be more useful than a prize half of us could not use.
That way, if you win, you can at least USE it.
:wink-big:
drbandkgb 10-14-2010, 05:30 PM But coupons are heavy :D
Drake 10-15-2010, 06:18 AM But coupons are heavy :D
So is a Warn winch. ;)
Not to get people all excited but Warn really likes to promote a lot, even at small events (which this may not be). They were one of our sponsors at my local club's King of the Hill event and they supplied us with a with a Warn XD9000 winch for a raffle prize. If they threw in a recovery strap, I would be happy. :)
drbandkgb 10-15-2010, 07:55 AM Yes that would be sweet
HightecRednec 10-15-2010, 09:33 AM David, I know I can't make it for the Saturday run to Woolys and I'm not sure about the plant tour Friday. One of my best friends is getting married on the 11th and I kinda have to be there.
Drake 10-15-2010, 09:40 AM They can get married at the Nissan plant! :D
Although it is all still a long ways off, we've come up with a lot of good ideas to make this event worthwhile for everyone attending. We know that if you guys and gals are willing to make a long road trip, we are going to make it worth your effort and hope to see everyone there. It is going to be a great weekend.
David has put together a good team to work on this. We've basically just started the official planning and we are already getting good responses for support.
Stay tuned for updates!
Roschili 10-15-2010, 09:43 AM Subscribed. Can't wait for the big X party.

Dave, can you make this an open poll, so we can see who voted for which?
Would be nice to see who is actually coming instead of seeing a number..

drbandkgb 10-17-2010, 04:00 PM If I knew how I would cmd... I just looked but only could see how to reset it
Roschili 10-17-2010, 06:33 PM We should have people fly in to Knoxville, Nashville, or Atlanta if its too far for them to drive. Then CX members nearby could pick them up and bring them.
I know I'd make a run to either McGhee Tyson in Knoxville or Nashville's airport to pick up members.
drbandkgb 10-17-2010, 06:45 PM Good idea Roschili
Tommyboy 10-17-2010, 08:03 PM I don't know.... kind of far to drive.

Prime 10-18-2010, 10:47 PM 12 Hours & 710 Miles. I think I'm the furthest person that is pretty much due east of Franklin, TN. I'll bring some east coast beach sand to share if anyone wants some. heh.
Definitely will be there. Also, if anybody along the NC I-40 corridor wants to meet up and caravan, let me know, as I'll be coming through.
Roschili 10-19-2010, 05:49 AM Cool, if I fly in on Thursday can I crash with you?
Sure. If dorm rooms are you're thing, I've got the perfect couch!
Haha... Maybe they will let you parachute out of the plane halfway here and then you'll be even closer. Or maybe if you take the right flight, you'll go over CC directly and you could parachute into the party. Talk about making an entrance....
TimRich 10-19-2010, 10:42 AM 682 miles for me at 11.5 hours... Almost got you Prime...lol
NCPhotoTrekker 10-19-2010, 11:57 AM My distance isn't all that bad.....Your trip is 7 hours 8 minutes / 436.74 miles.....per Mapquest.
It looks like I'm about 900 miles and 15 hrs away...

ryandavenport 10-21-2010, 06:11 AM i emailed rough country last night about sponsorship, since their spacer kit for the frontier will also fit the xterra. then i asked if there were any plans to develop a larger lift for the xterra, much like they have for the titan.
TimRich 10-21-2010, 07:17 AM Well I sat down and talked to the wifey last night and I'm good to go. I hadn't really talked to her about it since this idea started. She was all for it! So I'll definately be there!
drbandkgb 10-21-2010, 07:23 AM Bring the wife too Tim :D
TimRich 10-21-2010, 07:37 AM I thought about that but I know she would be bored out of her mind...lol She was like well I can go find something to do while I'm there... I told her how are you gonna get there we will only have one car? She's not really into the whole off road thing.
NCPhotoTrekker 10-21-2010, 07:55 AM I'm bringing wife and kid. Had them sold on it with the camping and the road trip. The plant will be an intesting tour too. This counts as family time! Slip her something in a drink and toss her in the truck!
drbandkgb 10-21-2010, 08:11 AM lol...
TimRich 10-21-2010, 08:30 AM Yeah I told her I knew of at least one other member bringing the family but wasn't sure about the rest... The other problem is when we go off roading if she's there she will probably s#!t a brick...lol When we are just driving down the road she is the worst back seat driver ever!!! It drives me crazy... I can't imagine a 700 mile trip with her in the X let alone the off roading...LOL
rjr162 10-21-2010, 08:45 AM 11 hours 33 mins
I-70 W and I-71 S
696 miles
Considering I should be working full time again at a real job (IE> completely done with school) I *may* be able to convince the wife.. but as stated in page two, that's about 5 tanks of gas (on a good) round trip from PA in a 1st gen.
BigDog107 10-21-2010, 09:03 AM Better figure in break downs and screw ups off road too! lol

Shall I explain the benefits of sedation once again?
If she gets too bad on the trails tell her to put her expertise to work and have her spot for you. Its a win win for both. You can always opt to keep going after the obstacle and leave her there to help others while she is wondering where you went.

There, fixed that for you (JK! lol)
TimRich 10-21-2010, 09:11 AM ^^HAHAHA^^ I guess those are pretty good options too! I think Greg is hoping I bring her so his wife has someone to hang out with...LOL
NCPhotoTrekker 10-21-2010, 09:11 AM ^^^^Hahahaha, my oversight. I should have done that with my first wife, would have been cheaper in the end.
NCPhotoTrekker 10-21-2010, 09:12 AM ^^HAHAHA^^ I guess those are pretty good options too! I think Greg is hoping I bring her so his wife has someone to hang out with...LOL
If you tell the secret, its no longer a secret....shhhhhhh
TimRich 10-21-2010, 09:14 AM Well it's only a secret from the wives so as long as they aren't on here We should be good...hahaha
I would like to point out that your spotter should be someone who knows what they are doing...not a random passenger per se.
If the spotter doesn't really know how to drive the obstacles better than YOU do, why would you take their guidance?
Remember, its not just missing this rock or that one...its having a ROUTE from one end to the other, so that when you get through one part, you are in a good position to go to the next part, etc.
Now, if a gap exists that you need to bridge, and no rocks are handy, sure, stuff one of the ones that don't know what they are doing anyway into the crevice, etc...and drive over them.
:wink-big:
TimRich 10-21-2010, 12:24 PM You mean when you're off roading you don't just take a running start at the trail? :aufkopfhauen-big: LOL
Better figure in break downs and screw ups off road too! lol
From what I hear, Wooleys isn't very hard. Shouldn't have to much breakdowns.. Although Brian did strip the spines on his tbar adjuster on a dirt path... :D
Tommyboy 10-21-2010, 05:33 PM Wooly's is pretty tame, and still fun, and if you get board we can get "lost"

Depends on the weather.... woolys can be a complete mess if its wet... there are quite a few steep climbs,.... its really what you make it there are several difficult/technical trails along with dirt paths
drbandkgb 10-21-2010, 07:00 PM Sorry if I missed it. Why not Coal Creek?

Drake 10-22-2010, 09:44 AM LOL! It's on my calendar every year but this friggin' job keeps screwin' s*** up. I got cussed out just for asking for one day off to go to this! You can't put it in the ClubXterra Events forum?
I mean, that is where the National Meet started getting tossed around a few years ago..

As far as I'm concerned, that is bull. She has 8 months to figure out what she'll do without you for that day. Shouldn't be a problem.

drbandkgb 11-02-2010, 10:31 AM Work is going on... Good things are coming... updates soon
Drake 11-03-2010, 05:49 AM We have plans to hit a LOT of sponsors. Right now we are working on getting things together in order to make a good "proposal" so to speak to get the best possible interest from them. We are confirming the location and space available, concessions at the location and hopefully discounts at area hotels for attendees. It takes a lot of logistics work but we feel like once we get the groundwork laid over the next couple of weeks, the process and progress will happen quickly. We have a list of over 60 companies we are targeting including tire manufacturers, custom fab shops, offroad part companies and a host of others. We hope to make this raffle both fun and rewarding for as many people as possible. Hopefully no one goes home empty handed. :)
Drake 11-03-2010, 09:52 AM Just to give a bit of a list of what we are working on for sponsors, here is a short teaser list of "targets". Several of these are local custom shops but have donated aftermarket parts courtesy of other manufacturers. I've had experience with them in past events for other clubs and it is surprising at some of the items they donate.
Do not confuse these as actual sponsors though. These are only some of our targets as we are making sure we have all of our ducks in a row before we make official presentations to them so that this doesn't come off as some half-cocked meet and greet.
Warn (donated a winch in an '09 event)
Airgas (donated a Mig Welder in a previous event)
Edelbrock
Doug Thorley
Fastenal
Hooters
Extreme Roc Rigs
Maxxis (donated a set of four Maxxis Bighorn M/T's at a previous event)
Goodyear
Nitto
Spidertrax
Rusty's Offroad
Offroad Connection
Dixie Offroad
Detroit/Eaton Locker
JRT Offroad
Rocket City Offroad
KC Hilites
Line-X
4x4 Customs
Southern Offroad
Wheelin' in the Country (a.k.a. Summertown)
And of course we are going to try and work with our Nissan specific aftermarket suppliers like AC and others. I hoping/expecting to see commitments at year's end or at the turn of the year.
Word.
Good work guys, can't wait to start driving south.. :D
Prime 11-04-2010, 05:30 PM Man, this keeps getting more an more exciting. I'm already saving $$ for it.

AZ-Ted 11-25-2010, 06:00 AM Wish I could go, but it's 1600 miles from Phoenix, AZ. At 13MPG, I'm looking at almost 250 gallons of gas for the round trip and 50+ hours of driving time.
Have a blast and take lots of pics!
Krisnherx 11-25-2010, 08:02 AM Might be coming. Depends on money and all that jaz. Maybe the guys here at ENCXC can all meet up and pool together. =)

Lucky_lefty 11-29-2010, 12:46 PM are you going to be making stickers, those would be cool. I want to go but I cant make it on friday. I am 9 hours away and I just told my wifes cousin we are going on saturday. I work for the railroad so time is really limited. If I can get him to go we can leave friday and get there saturday morning and leave sat night. Now I need to lift my X and get new tires and do all my goodies.

I just added up the gas it would take to get there and back, I could fly there and get a hotel. Which I might actually do instead. I know it defeats the purpose, but with school and work I wont have the 2 or 3 days travel time plus the event to take off.
BlondeXgirl 11-29-2010, 08:00 PM Ok, I'm going. I need people to follow!!
Krisnherx 11-29-2010, 08:22 PM This falls on the weekend of my 21st! hmmm decisions... decisions....

Chad, You are more than welcome to ride up with me. If you can get the time off it might be cheaper to chip in on the gas than to get a flight and hotel. We could either camp out or split a hotel if ya want. Just throwin it out there.
Lucky_lefty 11-30-2010, 12:13 PM I am really looking forward to this. I am going to order bumpers from shrock works and I hope I get them before I go. Will I need skid plates?

Okay so since Im gunna write this and Im planning on coming, so I call dibs on making the youtube video of the trip!
So I listen to alot of heavy music. Well I have a friend, Matt Hastings, at my church who is fairly big in the hardcore music industry with his band MyChildren MyBride.
On their second album "Lost Boy" the first song is called "Terra Firma"
It essentially a bunch of brutal breakdowns put together. Put that as the soundtract to a video of Xterras at the 2011 Xterra fest in smyrna, with some flashy video graphics in Adobe Encore and you can have one kickass video about the awesome offroad brutality of the X, all while covering the national meet at the "coming home" 2011 meet.
What do ya think? Im thinking the video could be called "Xterra Firma: coming home"
here is the song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAyYp2B7lKw&feature=related
the opening scene could be dave parachuting his X from the back of a C-130...
john13 11-30-2010, 11:54 PM John send us a lay thingy and you can ride with us :) then ill send it back with pix of people wearing it :)
Cool Idea! Please PM me the address to mail them to and give me an idea of about how many to send. That way, I will at least be there in spirit. Mahalo (thank you) John

FL Backpackonwheels 12-01-2010, 03:55 PM Just a heads-up, if you plan on staying at a hotel you may be outta luck. I was doing some trip planning today and noticed that there is some big event going on in Nashville at the same time (CMA Fan Fest?). Most of the Hilton chain hotels were booked up from Nashville to Murfreesboro.
drbandkgb 12-01-2010, 04:41 PM yes CMA fest... Shouldnt be a issue here in Murfreesboro... No Hiltons here.. Ill get a list of local places.. been meaning to see one about a group rate
Diadaga 12-01-2010, 07:40 PM Worst case scenario you could push out towards Clarksville
Krisnherx 12-01-2010, 08:17 PM worst case scenario.... just sleep in the back of your X.
Lucky_lefty 12-01-2010, 08:26 PM My wife might actually come. Depends if she gets preg or not if she comes we will need a room if it's me and her cousin he can sleep in a tent I will sleep in my X
chuckamazuk 12-01-2010, 09:30 PM My sister is in South Nashville and I have more family in Goodlettsville. I'll stay one of those places if I'm not camping.

motorcop75 12-15-2010, 07:56 PM So i guess we will get a NE caravan thats going down.. Me, Tom, Mike and Brian so far.. I don't believe Brendon will be driving but he will be shotty with me abusing you all on the mic.. ahha
Count me in guys and girls. I'll be that random Fronty in a sea of X's. I'm not afraid. Add me to the NE caravan, me and my camper!!!!
Lucky_lefty 12-15-2010, 07:58 PM any progress on the hotels? also will there be a group for the guys that never went off roading? I will be heading south from IL
Drake 12-15-2010, 08:07 PM Yes we will divide up groups according to capabilities and willingness. In other words, we won't let you get in over your head. :D We know we have to consider that a lot of the attendees have a long trip home after this meet and they may not want to push the limits like they would at their local park.
I plan to bring every trail spare I have though so if somebody does have a bad breakage, we should have the parts and know how to see that you get home safely.
Lucky_lefty 12-15-2010, 08:11 PM I am glad you are thinking about that, because Im not I just dont want to roll over. Other than that I am almost up for everything.
Put me down for camping and the NE caravan. Steve it will be good to have you! I'll forgive you for bringing a fronty...this time....LOL! ;)
TimRich 12-16-2010, 08:22 AM Man I can't wait for this! I think I'll be camping getting a new tent for Christmas!
