Hey all, I'm an Army Firefighter for the CA Nat'l Guard, and I'm deployed to Iraq right now as an 11-Bang-Bang, and let me tell you, it blows. I'm a medic on the outside, and like to spend my free time disappearing into the northern CA wilderness, preferbly with friends, women, and alcohol.
Right now I'm checking out forums on the XTerra, because when I come home, I want to pick one up, and everyone knows when you want to learn something on the internet, forums are where you do it.
So far I'm thinking an '03 SE V6 SC...feedback?

Welcome! It sounds like the xterra would be a perfect fit for your lifestyle, lol.
The only issue with the supercharged version would be it gets pretty crappy gas mileage AND requires premium gas only. The power is nice though.

I recent purchased an 03 SE S/C...so far im very happy with it. Gas mileage isnt horrible. Im getting around 16...but thats also because i like hearing the blower wine. Everything else is great...it performs pretty well off road for a stock suv ..good luck...oh and the beer and women in the mountains?? there is nothin better haha

No fun over there huh. At least the money is tax-free, and if you are like me, you are gonna wanna come home and blow it on somethin you are gonna enjoy. The X sounds like a perfect fit for you. I love mine and getting lost in the northwoods. Good luck and get home safe.

I've got an '04 SE S/C and I love it. Coming from driving honda accords and civics for the past 12 years so yeah to me the gas mileage sucks BUT what the X offers in other areas to me greatly outweighs mpg's. I couldn't load up 2 buddies, 3 dogs and 3 backpacks and go for a weekend camping trip in my civic. I couldn't smoke an acura TL in my civic... ok ok ok... it was wet and I cheated and used 4-hi but this jackass started it. He couldn't keep it on the road trying to pace me... it was great! :auslachen2-big:
Seriously though, I wouldn't trade my X for anything except for maybe a new X. When you go shopping, crawl up underneath and check thoroughly for signs of off-road use (red-stained cat, diff, damaged skids etc.). You wanna be the first to pop the cherry.
