HI everyone I have a 2000 se. I bought some kc slimlites yesterday. I was wondering if it's possible to mount them on the stock bumper. What would be the best location? And how would you do it. Thanks

Idk if your new or not, but try searching before posting...twice. There have been many light installs like that.

Haha thanks for sticking up for me lol. and yes I did search and what I was looking for was not there. I'm not wanting to mount to a bull bar. I'm wanting to attach them to the actual bumper. So I posted this. I didn't mean to post twice sorry.

Don't worry about these gung-ho guys on here. they dont give any slack to new guys. I just got chewed out for having a brush guard on my X on my build thread. I feel that who cares what parts you put on. As long as you love xterras so wat!!

As for all these lame "rules" that these forums have, just don't worry. It seems that being new and posting somthing will get you chewed out by someone who is "higher" up.

Dont worry. I think mounting the KCs will look great on ur bumper. I have Hella Blackmagics on my brush guard and my hellas would definitely fit on my bumper. Good luck. check out my build thread!

The 2000-2001 bumpers are kind of limited for mounting lights, I know people have but it has never looked quite right. If you do a more thorough search (not chewing you out I just know I have seen some on here) you will find what you are looking for.

Now for my own self interest I would like to offer you an alternative. The roof.

LOL

Don't be so sensitive.

No one here CAN chew you out...its a forum, not an army base.

We just point out that they are poseur mods done by newbies who don't know any better....

That doesn't mean you can't have one.

Its like a hair cut YOU like, but all your friends laugh and tell you they think it looks stupid.

Screw them all, its your hair. Unless they are pinning you down and coming at you with scissors, you don't have to listen to them.

To mount some lights in the stock bumper, just drill some holes in front of the grille.
Here's a pic of that type of setup:

I searched for this pic, but then again I also knew exactly what thread it was in and where to look. However, the search feature is very useful. Just make sure you're using the one in the orange bar, and not the google search bar in the top left.

And if you do go for the roof, this is my setup. It was free and easy, I just used the stock bolts.

All the way to the left.

amen. I wasn't jumping on his case, just letting him know. Sometimes you'll end up getting more info by searching.

Calm down and read as its been typed, nothing insulting about it at all.

Once you get into the swing of it you'll get used to it.
The guys on here are the nicest, most helpful people I have ever talked to online. The reason we have rules is because when there are new threads made every day on the same topics, it clutters up the forum, uses bandwidth, and is kind of annoying for all of the people who try to answer them.

The reason people give you crap about the brush guard is because they are trying to help you.
Here's a little preview of what happens to brush guards in collisions:

I've been on here for almost a year, and I still get told to search when I post on a common topic.
Just a warning, if you ask about tire size, PML (poor man's lift) or brush guards, you are likely to be told to search.

Searching is a good thing.

It allows you to read the answer to your question before you ask it....

...and even better, gives you the chance to think it over, and come up with new questions that are more specific.

Probably 80% of the first posts by people on truck forums (Jeep, Xterra, etc...), is "What's the largest tire I can fit w/o a lift".

That means this question has been asked over TEN THOUSAND TIMES on many forums.

As the answer today is not really different from a year ago, as the tire size and wheel well for a particular model stay the same...you can read the 9,999th time it was answered, the 5,9876th time, the 2,673rd time, or, ask it again, the 10,000th time, etc.

The answer is the same, over and over again.

The answers may include what size fits with a BL, or a PML, or a 3" SL, or with trimming, and how much trimming, and there may be pics, etc.

The 2,673rd post might be the BEST ONE, and the 10,000th might be the worst, as far as giving you the most info in response to your question.

The LAST response is not going to "Make Sure" any more than the 9,999th was making sure...it may even be the most exasperated member giving a precursory answer to a question that HE has answered many many many many many times...each time getting more and more terse.

Add to that the tendency of a newbie to ask the SAME QUESTION more than once,, on the same day...and now the exasperated forum answerer is even MORE exasperated, etc...

Its like there's a guy at the gas station pulling up to ask directions to a local place that EVERY ONE STOPS AND ASKS DIRECTIONS TO...

and asks how far to Great Adventure or whatever...

And - Imagine there is a Giant Map hung across the station, with the Directions to Great Adventure highlighted boldly to help travelers find their way.

....and the pump guy tells him its 6.7 miles straight ahead (27th time that day he's said that...)...and doesn't bother to point out the Giant Map.

...and then the guy pulls up to the next attendant, and asks him too..."Just to make sure", and the guy tells him its 127 miles the OTHER WAY, because he is sick of people asking him that question....and doesn't bother to point out the Giant Map.

So, telling you to search is the moral equivalent of the gas jockey just pointing at the giant map hung at the station to answer "How to get to Great Adventure from here"....when you ask.

all that jibber jabber and you could have answered his question with half the key strokes.

His question was already answered on the 1st page of this thread, and on the 1st post, by me... in the OTHER duplicate thread.

The rest was collateral.

:D

And the point was to show the MAP.

(Look at where I'm pointing, do not look at my finger)

Easy guys... Ok noobs... easy too.. People do get tired of answering the same questions... That being said.. The search on this forum isnt the best... BUT look at the FORUMS page. Most all your questions will be answered there.

Now people will give you grief on things like brushguards because we love all the Xterra's on here. I would hate to see something you worked hard on messed up badly. All the warnings like that are just to help you.. Maybe we could do a better job on expressing this in TEXT. Either way I hope you guys learn from the Forum..
Im sure you guys can add a lot to this.
