What is the best susp. lift for an 07 SE? I dont want a body, but I don't anything super hard core. I just want my xterra to have that more aggressive look.

Well the BEST would be either a SAS (solid axle swap) ~$4500-$7500
or if you want to retain the IFS (independent front suspension) the best would be from SLR (spencer low racing) ~$4000-$8000

If you want a 5" lift that is not super great you could go with the Calmini kit... this is what I have but i upgraded alot of the parts. The base kit for the Xterra runs around $1600.

If you want a smaller lift that is really good you could get the coilovers from PRG ~$699 with new upper controll arms from PRG also ~$540 for the front and get new spring packs for the rear from alcan spring ~$520 a pair.

Cheaper lifts consist of coil spacers which you can get from PRG, Calmini, Daystar, or Top guns customz... for the front. And you could do either a shackle, AAL, or leaf mini pack for the rear.

Does that answer your question??? LOL, probably not!

I am not looking for anything 5 or over. I want to maintain a some what smooth ride. Will any of the options keep it smooth or am I dreaming to much?

Yeah, I figured you didnt want anything spectacular... but since you said what is the best lift for the X I thought I should inform you on how rediculous prices on lifts can get.

Okay this is my suggestion. Get a coilspacer for the front and either a shackle or mini spring pack for the rear.

If you want the cheapest then get the coilspacer from top guns customz (just google it, or look for it on ebay ~ $99) and the shackle from AC (automotive customizers www.4x4parts.com (http://www.4x4parts.com) )

If you want something that is still fairly cheap but a little bit more quality then get the coilspacer (for front) and the deaver mini pack or adjustable shackle (for the rear) from PRG www.prgproducts.com (http://www.prgproducts.com) The best thing to do is go to their website and find their phone number then call them up and ask for Greg. Their website doesnt have all the stuff that they sell so its best to order over the phone, plus Greg is an awesome guy and can answer any questions you have.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I figure install is going to be a big deal since I am working with springs and shit right?

Naa, installation of coilspacers is fairly simple... its something that even an inexperienced wrencher can handle. Just remember that you always need to do an alignment after you mess with the suspension.

I even did all the installation of my suspension lift (calmini 5'' kit) without ever working on a truck in my life. So I know if I can do that then so can you... you just need to make sure you have all the necissary tools before starting the job.

What would I need?

hmm, lets see..... Two socket wrenches with extensions of various sizes and various sockets in MM sizes. I think the main ones are 14mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm. You might need 20,21,22 (cant remember). A bigg assed breaker bar. Assorted wrenches in the same sizes mentioned above. At least two jack stands (4 is better but 2 will do, and dont get little puny ones, get the beefy ones)... a floor jack is definitely a good investment (anything that supports 2.5 tons+ will do). A sledge hammer helps to get the sterring knuckle separated from the UCA (usually directions say you need a ball joint separator but that is a load of crap.... hammer does just fine) Wait im not sure if you even have to remove the knuckle from the ball joint, im pretty sure you do, but maybe not. Uhhh, I think that might be it.

All these tools might start to get a little pricy, but its cheaper than paying someone to install the lift... plus you get to keep the tools.
