No, it is not difficult. Have you ever done a distributor? Same deal. You pull off one wire and connect it to the new one. One at a time. Simple stuff....

Pull up on the tray in the middle of the dash; pop out the screw, gently pry off the finish trim from around the head unit and heat/ AC knobs, remove the screws for the old head, plug the new one in, tighten the screws and put the trim back in place. Make sure you get the face plate adapter and wiring harness that adapts from Nissan to your new head unit.

And the plastic dash is SOFT and will scratch easily.... you might be wise to use a towel between the trim and the dash so nothing gets scratched.

-I have an aftermarket one in there currently. Just planning on getting a new one and wanted to hook it all up myself...Lot cheaper.
How bout amps? Same idea, right? as far as just plugging it in?

Well yeah plugging them into the back of the stereo is easy enough... its just routing all the wires to where ever you want to put your amp that is the pain!

you also have to find a good place to run the power wire, the easiest way ive found is on the left hand side of the engine bay there is a gromet with wires coming out run your power wire through there and then to the back i would suggest unless you plan on rippin up most of the floor to run the wires i would run power on one side and rca's and remote wire on the on the other xterras dont have much room.

any time you run wires to a amp you want to put the power and remote on one side and then the rca's on the other..... so you dont get the engine noise.... thats for any car, truck , suv
