: Prime'z X
Prime 09-10-2010, 06:16 AM I figured I might as well join the club as it were. Everybody else has one of these, so why not me.
So, its a 2002 XE.
Was bone stock w/ 65k on the ticker.
Planned Mods:
PML - DONE
32's - DONE
2" DIY Body Lift - DONE
Auxiliary backup lights - DONE
CB - DONE
Removed intake resonators - DONE
Aftermarket Bluetoothy Radio - DONE
Bilstiens
sliders & skids
some type of bumpers (if I can find something that keeps the foglights)
COMPLETE LED Conversion
Real Projector HID conversion
Snorkel
Trailer hitch...the factory one if I can find it (or rear bumper, whichever happens first)
Complete 3" SL
There will probably be some performance mods down the line too. When the stock manifolds crack, I'll get headers....when the muffler goes, I'll pick up the Nismo Catback. Etc.
Anyway, on to the pictures!
Here it is the weekend I bought it:

We found some rain water back in the neighborhood behind Corova Beach. Some of it was deep. My horn doesn't work anymore. I wish I had taken some action shots. But here is the aftermath.

got a set of charcoal desert runners, but they are in storage...so no pics until install.
Playing at a buddies house. His place just happened to have a motocross track in the yard when he bought it. Great place to drive over hills and test out new toys. I bent the crap out of my step rails...heh...This is after the PML.

That's all for now. I'll be sure to throw up some new pictures once the wheels and tires are on.
Drake 09-10-2010, 06:21 AM Nice start!
I've got a hitch I'm probably going to be getting rid of really soon if you're interested. I'd have to check on shipping charges though. It's a class 3 2" receiver.
Prime 09-10-2010, 06:41 AM I'd be more than happy to pay shipping. If you go that way, look into it and let me know. Thx.
Drake 09-10-2010, 06:56 AM Just checked and found out it is actually a class IV hitch. :) I'll get some shipping costs from work (should save a few bucks) and make you a deal.
TimRich 09-10-2010, 09:30 AM Nice! Looking forward to the pics with the new shoes on...
Rons04X 09-10-2010, 09:35 AM Looking nice man!
Makes me miss my blue X :(
RumbleBeeX 09-10-2010, 10:07 AM cant wait to see those tires and rims mounted
Prime 09-10-2010, 05:43 PM One of my cats, Ember, thought that the stack of tires in the kitchen was the coolest thing

Anyway, on to the important things
New tires installed! Still have to do a little trimming though.

The desert runners where DEFINITELY the right choice. Also need to pick up two more center caps. Stock 4-bars are boring and lame. heh.
drbandkgb 09-10-2010, 06:13 PM Yep you need the center caps.. That color of rim works well with the blue.. :D
Do the BL I wasnt a fan till I helped Xterror04 do his... Really sets it up nice..
So when are you going to loose the steps?
The start of a bad ass rig
Prime 09-10-2010, 07:56 PM Thx dude! I'm stoked.
I'm keeping the steps till I do the shrock skids. My girlfriend is short. Like 5'2"... so she appreciates the steps. Especially as things go upward. heh. Once I have the skids there will be a replacement step there. I didn't have the $$ to get the other two center caps. I'll order them next week when I get the Bilstiens.
On the BL. I'm seriously considering it at this point. But I'd have to do the plastic covers that masks the frame/body gap. That's my number one gripe w/ body lifts. Well, that and having to cut the tub for the t-case shifter. heh. So that may be in the next few months depending on money/time.
Prime 09-11-2010, 12:54 PM Trimming complete. It was way easier than I thought to just knock it out w/ a razor knife. This is all I ended cutting off.
http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/6248/peices.jpg
No more rubbing on full lock or flex. Didn't have to trim anything in the rear.
williambelk587 09-11-2010, 03:38 PM Looks good! I have always loved the desert runner wheels, and I loved the look of my X when it was still a PML and 32s (see avatar and signature pic). Keep up the good work.
Prime 11-09-2010, 07:35 PM CB Prep Work....
Got the antenna installed (3' Firestik II w/ HD Spring). Used the Firestik door jamb mount and the 18' FireRing coax. I love the cleanliness of the install. Right now the coax is under the back passenger seat because I don't have the radio yet. Xmas maybe.

For the radio, I think I'm leaning toward the Cobra 29 LX LE:
https://cobra.com/images_products/29LXLE_Green.jpg
Looks good and has a built in SWR meter.
Rons04X 11-09-2010, 07:49 PM Looks good man!
Prime 02-01-2011, 07:24 AM Got some reverse lights wired up today. (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=26822) Now I just have to pay the big bucks to swap the stock incandescent bulbs w/ LED's of the same color temperature so it looks/performs better.
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/6363/finalg.jpg
Prime 04-08-2011, 12:52 PM CB Installed! Cobra 29 LX LCD. its a TAD wider than the opening so it took some cutting and creative modding to get it in there, but it fits like a glove now. And the rest of the hole is still kinda useful small stuff.....now I need a new place to throw my sunglasses.
Right now its hooked up to accessory power...don't know if I want to leave it that way or give it a 100% feed...but thats easy enough to change should the desire get high enough.

xtacular 04-08-2011, 01:00 PM Nice!
Question for ya: with your 32s do you think there is enough plastic left to trim to fit chains? From the picture it doesn't look like you had to remove that much. Thanks!
Prime 04-08-2011, 04:03 PM No...it clears but just. Chains would hit. I'm sure they would clear w/ a body lift though.
Prime 06-03-2011, 05:49 AM Speaking of body lifts...

I've had several people tell me that now I need bigger tires......but I just bought these! They still have LOTS of life left!
I actually really like the way the BL works on the X. The only place you can REALLY tell is in the front where that little silver piece of plastic gaps out to the rest of the bumper. And fortunately, I did NOT have to cut the tub for the T-Case shifter. It goes into 4L just fine, and actually has plenty of room to spare.
Jmac289GT 06-03-2011, 06:48 AM Looks great man...I don't think you need bigger tires, those look just fine to me. I will still be running my 32X11.50 15's after I do my BL
GlamisDunesStar 06-03-2011, 08:07 AM nice job... like the CB mounted :) Your coming a long well!! and I like those tires :)
TimRich 06-03-2011, 08:57 AM Looks good! I think the tires look fine...
Prime 07-11-2011, 03:59 PM I <3 the UPS guy.....he delivered this today.
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1883/img1517jn.jpg
Now I need LOTS of money to get it installed. I'm going to do the compressor and all the wiring, but I don't feel comfortable cracking open the 3rd member.
xtacular 07-11-2011, 04:27 PM Nice! Did you find someone to buy the other one?
Prime 07-15-2011, 01:07 PM I did. Thankfully. Thats what made this possible. I'm going to install the compressor next weekend and start running all the wires. Also, I'm waiting to hear back from a local metal shop about my custom sliders. PROGRESS!! heh
drbandkgb 07-15-2011, 02:36 PM Very Cool
wapadingo 07-15-2011, 09:20 PM hardest part about the compressor is finding the perfect place to put it. all the wiring could still be managed if you had both thumbs cut off, super easy.
thanks again!
