Hello everyone, i'm brand new here and have a few questions about the stereo setup for my girlfriends car.

She has a 2003 Nissan Xterra SE with the Rockford Fosgate system. I was wondering what sizes of speakers she has in the front and rear doors as well as if thats a sub I see on the left side of the trunk area. If so, what size is the sub? I really appreciate all your help.

Thanks a lot,
Josh

The girlfriend will go nuts when she finds out I fitted her car with Alpine Type-R speakers and a 10" Type-R sub. :D

the door and rear speakers are the same in all the first gen X's which is 6.5" and 6x9's..... i beleve all RF systems that nissan installs come witha 10" sub the reason i say is cause my girls 06 sentra has the RF system and it has a 10" sub....

i know the stock sub is a fosgate p1 series...they measure 4.5" deep if i remeber correctly. so you should be safe with that. Im looking at putting a forgate p3 shallow mount sub in...only 3" deep then...Its dual voice coil and can handle a lot of power...plus it stick with the RF theme.

true, front are 6.5" seperates(components), rears are 6x9s, sub is 10". Alpine would be okay, however, why is she replacing the speakers? are they blown? if she doesnt like the sound try changing the EQ settings or honestly she may find that the system will sound better if you change out the headunit(radio/brain). That is where the signal is originally processed, also it could be the RF amplifier. If you need info refer to forums on Caraudio.com. All kinds of useful info there in regard to car audio. a veritable cornicopia if you will.

if she wants clearer crisper sound the only way to do it is upgrade the speakers... in my opinion stock speakers are crappy even the RF system that comes in it..... it dosnt matter what anybody says if you put one of the stock 6.5's and a RF 3way 6.5 and you will def. hear the diffrence...... i know i did, and soon i will take out the RF speakers in the wifes car and upgrade them as well.....

In a lot of cases upgrading to aftermarket speakers will only make the flaws of the factory head-unit shine through, this I know as a result of upgrading the system in my own car ('05 Mustang). I upgraded the speakers to Alpine and left the stock head unit (which is the 'premium' stereo option for the '05 and up Mustangs) and it destroyed my sound altogether. An Alpine head-unit fixed that problem up good. Rockford tends to make good equipment, but she needs an iPod jack anyway and in my opinion, if you're going to get wet; go swimming.

Then again, i'm just an Alpine junkie. :auslachen2-big:

well i am an audio junkie, not particularly loyal to any one brand.. however i have to agree with mustang guy.. upgrading the stock speakers only accentuate how bad stock systems are... there is more time spent in r&d for stock radios equalization to make it sound ok than what components go into the vehicle.. the stock radio has to work to make the low quality speakers sound ok. for the radio, i love my panasonic, great quality, plenty of options(bells and whistles galore, time alignment, speaker polarity changes, level changes<more than just the volume knob> and i get dolby 5.1 processing) its a double din touch screen DVD/MP3/CD/CD changer/sat radio all in one... i works outstanding for my set up... just upgrading my head brought my speaker set up/choices to a whole new level in sound quality, and clarity.. so the argument that speakers will solve anything i find imo to be false.. if you want better sound, change the brain first
speakers second... amp the speaks, if you find that yoy are missing low frequencies, add a sub stage... ooo goodness.. the audio mod bug has struck again....:talk2much:
