I'm going to be installing HID's real soon. You will notice a huge difference. You will benefit more from them if you buy new headlights also. I got the Euro headlights found on ebay.

Try Xenonking.com for some killer HID lights . This board should approach them with a group buy , the Hayabusa board did and got a good discount on them .

I put an 10000K HID kit in my 05 X about 3 months ago. It was the first mod I made to this truck. If you get a good kit, it takes about 30 minutes to install, but you can do a super smooth install in about an hour. I mounted the ballasts and igniters behind the front bumper cover. There is all kind of room under there, and when you pop the hood, there is just a factory looking wire going into the factory headlight. A dealer wouln't even notice that anything has been changed.

5000 is pure white, and the brightest at arpund 3100-3200 lumens, 4500k will have a slight yellow hue

also, one thing to remember. Depending on what year/model you have, you need two 15 amp fuses. My headlight are wired to two different fuses. If not, you will have to rewire the headlights to a seperate fuse box.
And the lower the number, the brigher the lights will be. I'm getting the 6000K HID kit.
