buy another X I will be. I sold my 2004 about 2-3 yrs ago and looking at getting a new 2011. I keep getting nervous they'll discontinue them before I get a chance to buy another but it looks like they are safe for now. I've got a daughter on the way and I'll be buying a new truck shortly after her birth. Figured I'd get back in the loop now...

Welcome in... I havent heard on the Gen 3s yet but I see no reason to think Nissan would kill the Xterra. I think its there top selling SUV

Welcome to CX, and welcome back to X ownership. I'm a returning owner myself, and its just as much fun this go 'round as last time. Good luck on getting your 2011 soon. They have simplified the trim levels, but there is no talk of axing the X, or changing the body style. I'm betting it will get an update in 2013 (just a hunch).

Good to know. I'll probably pick up an S 4x4 AT. Off road is nice, but money saved on that is money I can spend on other toys for it.

That is probably the thought process for the majority of the board here. You can build a much more capable rig than the OR is off the shelf. For me, I don't want to get into modding to that degree. The OR does just what I need it to do as is. The locker was a big consideration for me as I have gotten crossed up a time or two, and its the rear end that lifts each time. If you are wanting to wrench on your rig, then go with a lower end model and build it to suit your needs. Go far enough, and you will make the OR look like a Ford Escort.

IIRC the Gen 2 X is a Dana 44 rear diff? I think it would be easy enough to locate an aftermarket locker. I do agree with your though process though. Having a factory installed locker is def. a plus. Well, we'll have to see which one they are looking to move at the time.

Not all came with the D44. Only the manual trans models, and the OR (both AT and MT) I believe.
