Hello,
Im new to Xterra so I need help on tires.
I have a 2008 2WD and live in central TX; we have pleany of CALICHE, dirt/loose sand kind of desert areas.
On Factory rings, How wide and how tall I can go without modification?
Is 2WD, so no sence on lift kit...
Thanks

285/85/16 is the biggest to go on stock suspension. It's just under a 33" tire. You may need to a thing called a melt mod. There's a section on the inner plastic fender that bulges out a little. The tires may rub on the front. Just take a heat gun to the plastic and heat it up till it's soft enough to push in. I deffinetly suggest a allterain tire since your talkin about sand. Mudterrains will dig and sink. There's tons of nice AT's out there. One of my favorites is the Goodyear duratracs. But they might be a little to knoby for sand. Bfgoodrich AT KO are about the best all around tire. You may get a little frame rub at full lock for steering but it's not gonna damage anything. There's tons of 2nd gens runnin that tire size.

I think casper meant 285/75R16. If you choose to run this size I would recommend installing a leveling kit. (inexpensive and most people install them themselves) but if you don't want to make any modifications what so ever I would recommend a 275/70R16.
