Who has installed a Scangauge II in a first generation X? Wondering how they route the wire for that mount on the rear view mirror. Wouldn't it be easier to place it beneath the stereo?

i put mine on the dash next to the driver side pillar it is easy to see while driving and i just ran the wire up the door and used the velcro to hold it down.....

the scan guage is awesome. it's so many useful features. i love the miles to empty feature, along with a more accurate reading of gas mileage and mph. i have a 2nd gen x, i fabbed up a custom bracket and mounted mine right under my cd player. have the wires running behind the dash for a clean install. i'll put up some pictures later on. as for running the wires up behind the mirror, it shouldn't be that hard- just run the wire under the dash, up the window pillar and under the headliner to the mirror.

here's the pic....took about an hour to fab up, just some angle brackets mounted to the dashkit for the cd player, with some super-strength velcro on them and the scanguage to hold it all together. custom mount for the cell phone is also there as well. i spend most of my time flying, so i like to have everything right infront of me in my x just like in the herk

As far as the wiring goes, There is only 1 plug and it goes into your diagnostic port right? That is what I am guessing

it allows you to change the speedo with bigger tires??? I have regeared mine with larger tires, do you think it would allow for changes with that. BTW I had 4.9 stock ratio and I now run 5.142 with 33" tires.

umm
how it does the speedo thing.. you tell it the % difference in your current tire size compared to your stock size and it calculates it accordingly, you'd have alot of extra calculation for the % since youve regeared, regearing essentially changes your "stock" tire size

EDIT: it dosent change the speedometer on your dash, only the speedo displayed on the scangauge
