Hello,
I have tried a search but could not find the information I need. I am installing an amp in a 2007 xterra, and was wondering if there was a factory hole in the firewall to run the power cable through? If there is, where is it located? Also, for those who have placed an amp under the seat, are there any problems with the airbag system if I remove the seat for install? Thank you so much for all of you help and advice.

i've got an 05, same body style. as for the firewall, i drilled my own hole, but i think you can fit the cable through the same hole that the cable for the hood release runs thru. i have my amp mounted on my box in the rear- not sure if you want to keep your amp under the seat, you might run into a problem with it overheating down there due to lack of airflow.

look on the firewall inside the engine bay and there should be a few holes with wires going through them just find one and try to push though might be tough but it should go..... and as to the amp under the seat i know alot of people that have put them there...... my amp is mounted tothe rear seat..... ive only layed them down once since i instaled the system and i just put the box on top..... good luck and hope everything goes right.....

On the drivers side of the firewall, under the brake booster you will see a main wire harness going through the firewall. Within a few inches of it you will see about a dime sized black grommet. Pop the grommet out and viola, hole in the firewall. I cut a small hole in my grommet and used it as a gasket to keep the hole sealed.

Thanks for all your help. I installed speakers in all four doors today. I will check for the firewall hole tomorrow. Was still wondering if any of you removed the drivers or passengers seat without problems. Im worried about the airbag system. Thanks again.

Didn't take out the drivers, but the passenger seat comes out easy. Didn't even have to disconnect the battery. Four bolts and two wire harness connections. I don't have side airbags and ones that do I don't know if they are in the seats for side pillars. You will have to go through the airbag warning light reset procedure when you are done though.

So witch firewall hole did you use and how did you go about it? I'm stuck and I'm about to just drill my own because I dont have enough wire to go to driver side and and passenger side is killing me even with glove compartment boxes removed!!
