: Not a good start...
CarlsbadXterra 02-22-2006, 07:04 PM Ok, I posted last night that I had just taken delivery of my 06'. On the way to work this morning the brakes almost completely failed. I had to push the pedal ALL THE WAY to the floor and was barely able to stop at one point as I got off the freeway.
I pull into a parking lot and first thing I check is fluid level. ITS BONE DRY. I mean I put my finger down into the res. and it was dry. I call my sales rep and he tells me he will send a mobile repair person right over. I walk the few blocks to work and wait four hours, no call, no mobile tech... nothing. I walk two more blocks to the autoparts store, buy the fluid and ut it in. Everything seems to be alright. My sales rep has now offered me two full tanks of gas for the inconvenience and he will have it looked at tomorrow.
I have always been impressed with Nissan quality and service, this was pretty disappointing!

That sounds like someone at the factory forgot to put the fluid in. That sucks. Hey let me tell you from owning 2 new Nissans, their service depts have the worst reputation on other forums. I luckily have a good one, which is why I keep buying cars from them.
I would at the very least expect them to bleed you entire brake system because air could very well be trapped in your lines.
For example, my 03 350Z has been back to the dealer about 20 or so times to have tech service bulletins perormed that I read about on the internet.
My 05 X SE has been back 2X to replace a faulty overhead console. My point is, all new cars have some kind of flaw, which is why I bring it back to have every miniscule thing checked out, so long as its under warranty.
Check out this website for recalls and service bulletins:

Ricer-X 02-23-2006, 08:09 AM i had a bad experiance with baker jackson nissan(bought mine @ mossy) the first time i went there, i went back, raised hell, someone took my all weather floor mats out. my service rep at the time told me it wasnt their responsibility, to come back tomorrow since it was late and we'd look for them. i said "no sir, lets go look right now, since it was in your shop then it is your responsibility, and if it is not your responsibility then while we are lookin for my mats ill just take whatever catches my eye, not my responsibility" needless to say, got my floor mats back, they were in an employee's xterra(i intitialed the bottom) and the service rep was fired. i dont really feel that bad, and they take real good care of me now

im the same way, but the repairs mentioned were from flippin my truck
mtxterra 02-24-2006, 03:04 PM ya i guess you would need to take it to a dealership to have that fixed then
BOOFER 02-25-2006, 05:55 AM So wait a minute, who getting what fixed where? I just woke up. The dealership is not your friend. they're just a wolverine in waiting until you warrantee runs out. I wouldnt trust those fucknuts to change my name on their computer.
Take care of your vehicle maintenance yourself. Whats the prob?
Sorry you got me before coffee & eggs.....
CarlsbadXterra 02-28-2006, 07:40 PM So i should not have paid for the Nissan extended warranty??? I do plan to do all maintanance myself, but I would enjoy the assurance that if the engine blows up with 37k miles on it Nissan will fix it.

Your drivetrain is covered for 5 years 60K miles. Its is highly unlikely that you engine will develop serious problems beyond that. Just keep up with the oil changes.
You're talking to the wrong guy when it comes to extended warrantees. :) I never buy into those. I dont believe in warrantees. My philosophy is - if it by chance breaks, then I'll have to pay for it or get rid of it. But if I buy the warrantee, Im gauranteed to pay for it - up front.
Most major engine/tranny damage should surface within the break in period, or not too soon thereafter. :)
MileHigh05! 03-01-2006, 09:02 AM I shouldn't even be telling this stupid story. I was under the hood adding windshield fluid and noticed that the brake resevoir was empty and I just had my X in for its first oil change. So I called the service center and ran the vechicle over. When I got there the tech said it was full. I doubted him and stuck my finger in, I didn't relize that there was clear fluid in there. I thought it was suposed to be red. So I no longer work on my X I have a 5 yr wrt and think I should leave it up to the professionals. Dumb Ass signing off hahha.

I'm a (Chevrolet) Service Consultant at a dealership... and I couldn't agree more. haha.
Although, just for clarification.. I'm capable of changing names in computers ;)

Then its all downhill from thereafter..... :p
usmc xterra 06-21-2006, 09:31 PM I'm not to hip on dealers also.
They have the racks with the outside uprights... Well, while installing my air bag locks they scratched the hell out of the door while it rubbed on the uprights.
05 Plus Air bags cannot be locked! Cost me the scratch to find out.
But Nissan will still sell you the parts listed for Air Bag locks,
So they are both dicked up.
Dealer asked my why I won't be back for an oil change.
I think I'll go Syn. Maybe Royal Purple. I like Ams Oil but it's too hard to get. I need something I can buy on a whim.
They call em Stealer's. MC
matt_sr 06-22-2006, 04:52 PM Some of you remember last month I posted a note that the Nissan dealer hadn't put the oil filler cover back on my engine on my Xterra after an oil change, thus covering my engine in oil. I did my 10k oil change my self last weekend, very easy on this vehicle, this also allowed me to maintain my own quality control. I find sloppy work and dishonest practices to be absolutely unacceptable. Some of you know what I do for a living, I'm absolutely honest to a fault in my work, and don't believe in in kind of sloppy work. Dishonest and or sloppy techs of any kind, should not be tolerated. A business is only as good as it's technicians, and those of us in the repair field no matter what we fix, should always maintain the highest standards. I had a call at a chargable account this morning, it took me 5 minutes to fix the problem. I could have and was suppose to, charge him 160 bucks, I didn't. I canceled the call and told him he never saw me.
