anyone use their 1st gen x to tow anywhere near the capacity limit(5000lbs) to vegas or laughlin from LA? how tough was it to tow up the steep grades?

I know this is an old thread, but people need to provide more info when they post ?'s like this. Are you towing with an auto? What time of year? Are you pulling something with active brakes? If you were pulling 5k in the middle of summer with an auto I could see you having some problems with the hills going to LA. Going down Cajon pass with no trailer brakes could be a little scary too. Will the vehicle do it? Absolutely, but there might be some frustrating and pucker moments for sure.
