: What Size Tire?
drumboy 09-17-2007, 10:37 AM I am a noob here and woul dlike to get better tires on my 2000 Xterra SE (4x4). I currently have factory 15 inch wheels and shitty factory sized 265/70 R15 Uniroyal tires. I want BF Goodrich All Terrain A/Ts, but they don't make them for a 15 inch wheel , anymore. If I go to a 16 inch wheel, there seems to be more choices. What size tires are people running on 16-inch wheel? I would like to buy a 16 wheels off of a newer Xterra...
Anthony 09-17-2007, 12:25 PM try here. go with the 32x11.5 r15

k1w1t1m 09-17-2007, 04:35 PM What?
You can't get 31 x 10.5 x 15s anymore?
Anthony 09-17-2007, 06:36 PM What?
You can't get 31 x 10.5 x 15s anymore?
Yes, you can. That's probably the most popular size of this tire.
json3904 09-17-2007, 10:20 PM where did you hear that the bfg's didnt come in a 15 anymore??????
cloudy01 09-19-2007, 05:57 PM ya theres no way youre gunna fit a 32 under there without some kind of lift..my 32's rubbed even with my pml so i had to trim...if youre not lookin to lift id run the 31's. or you could save for the pml and run the 32's.
TiminMb 09-19-2007, 06:50 PM I just ordered BFG A/t's for my Xterra. I've used them for years on my jeep and I find them a good compromise between street and trail. They work well on snowy roads and have good directional control, especially if you keep the width of them reasonable. Weight helps with traction and a narrow tire has certain advantages where the substrate is not bottomless, ie not mud or sand.
TiminMb 09-20-2007, 10:50 AM Can someone confirm that the bolt pattern on all Xterra's is 6 on 5.5"? Or at least on a 2001 4wd? I'd like some new rims, but want to keep the tires I just bought.

2005-2008 bolt pattern is 6 on 4.5
drumboy 09-20-2007, 12:44 PM well, the reason i thought the bf goodrich doesn't offer their all terrain a/t tire for my 2000 Xterra is because i was searching for stock size 265/70 15. i don't understand the non-metric sizes., for example: 31x10.5 15. How close is that to stock tire? will it fit my ride without modding the suspension? thank's for your help.

31 x 10.5 15 means the nominal height is 31 inches. To make things more confusing, that means it may or may not actually be 31" tall. You could easily look it up on a chart for the brand and particular tire to confirm the actual height of a new tire before any tread wear. A 265/70 15 would work out to approximately 29.6" tall. So the 31 x 10.5's may or may not be just a tad bit taller. Don't forget, a tire that is 2" taller is only 1" larger in radius, so that means it gets only 1" closer to the wheel well for instance.
Your best bet in any event is to find out the true height from a tire chart from the manufacturer and actually measure.
json3904 09-21-2007, 04:34 PM yes my 285/75 r16 are a tad bit under 33" i measured them befor i put any miles on them..... i found a site a while back that had the charts on it if i can find it again i will post it on here for you....
IZVERG 09-22-2007, 09:59 AM I'm running LT265/75/16 BFG ATs on my 05 and absolutely love 'em!
TiminMb 09-23-2007, 06:56 PM Ok, I just got BFG 31 x10.5 15's A/t's installed on my 2001 Xterra and they are a great fit. Probably the maximum size you could fit without rubbing unless you did a lift or some trimming.
cloudy01 09-26-2007, 04:55 PM ya a 31 is MAX without rub or trimming..have you gone offroad yet with the new tires? you may not rub on the street but when/if you hit trails they could rub...just fyi
TiminMb 09-27-2007, 08:32 AM Not yet. I don't plan to hardcore wheel this machine. I wanted something good on snowy roads and trails for hunting. My days of climbing in and out of gravel pits and mud holes are over.

inukshuk 11-06-2007, 01:14 PM Hi all

Drake 11-06-2007, 02:36 PM I have a 17" wheel and I'm running 270/75's (it's just a hair under 32") on mine bone stock. I get a slight rub if I have the wheels cut all the way. Haven't completely "stuffed" a wheel yet so I don't know about rub in the back end but so far so good. I'm going with a 15" wheel as soon as possible because tires are so much cheaper in that size.
trackerho76 12-05-2007, 05:28 AM Dick Cepek makes the Radial FC-II in 31x10.5x15 check it out. it's a good all around tire for the road and more agressive than the BFG AT. Everyone I Know that has them love em.
