I couldn't find a thread that discussed this scenario, so here it goes. I have an '00 X. Speakers are blown and I need new ones. I've seen suggestions on this site but I don't want to sink the big bucks into an entire audio system. I'd like good sound with the stock headunit (don't laugh). Let's put it this way, what would be a decent set of speakers for the X. In reading other threads, I understand that even great speakers sound crappy without an amp. Sooo, what is a decent amp to go with the decent speakers and the stock head unit? I'd like to keep it under $500 (preferably in the 300 to 400 range). I know that with some smart shopping on amazon, ebay and other sites, one can get some good prices (as opposed to Cruthfield, Circuit City, etc.) Any input/opinions would help. Thanks in advance.

imo alpine speakers rock, i put some in my sisters car, 2 way spaekers bout $100 a pair at best buy, they sounded great, no amp.

i think you would be fine without an amp on the speakers, get some good speakers, put em in, and i hink you will be satisfied

I put some Infinity 2 ways in my S2000 and I miss the mid-range (I've got good bass and treble but there's something missing in the middle). Are 3ways much better (I'm talking about speakers)?
Do the Fosgate's and Memphis' sound good?

they are a good combo if you ask me..... i love it...... i have the low mid and high's and they are clear even with the radio turned up full blast..... i figured running with the amp i have (nitro 1000watt 4 channel) i thought it would over power the speakers but like i said they preform very well.....

So the fronts are 6 1/2", right? Are they slim fit or standard depth 6 1/2"? The backs are 6x9's. If you were going to put rear door speakers, what size would fit? And if you went with rear door speakers would you be using the speaker wires for the rear speakers and sh!tcanning the 6x9's?
I guess if I'm not putting an amp in now, I should keep the 6x9's so I have some bass.
Sorry for all the questions, I haven't pulled the door panels yet. I figured I'd get the speakers first, then the beer and then tear into the X.
